It kind of evolved organically. He was a drifter that worshipped 'the snows' as something of a nebulous entity and just went with the flow of things. I made up a plausible reason for him to continue with the mission ("They are bending the snows to their will! This will not stand!") and evaluated how he would respond as more information came along.

While meta gaming happens we discourage it as much as possible. In this case you as a group should discuss this out of game first. We had one player do this all the time to where me and another GM started punishing him for this. The Druid meta gamed and shouldn't have. He also is taking this issue a little too far with banning your character from the group. A Paladin would have that right but not a Druid really. The fact he is insisting you create another character suggests he has issues with you more then the character. Again should be discussed out of game. Does he not like you? Sounds like it and happens in most groups. Now the question becomes can he be a grown up and still play with you or be a child and cause problems? Have been in groups where one or two people just don't like me. In one case we got along enough to all have fun playing but we avoided each other any other time. In the other the group banned the guy who didn't like me since he wasn't well liked to start and his dislike of me was becoming a problem for everyone.

What is the GM doing about all this? It is HIS game and he should be in control not the Druid or any other player! Talk to the GM first. If he can't handle his own game and control his players he should NOT be GM'ing!!!
Some GMs allow this not out of any lack of control but for RP purposes. However this doesn't seem the case. This should be discussed with everyone not just the GM.
