So I was helping a friend create a kineticist for a gestalt character. While doing so, we came across the unchained monk who only needs to sleep for 2 hours each night with the ki metabolism ability, and the kineticist says that she needs to get a full night's rest to eliminate her burn. We were wondering if this monk ability counts as a full night's rest and recharges her burn. Also can a character sleep multiple times per day for multiple "full night's of rest", and could she recharge her burn multiple times per day if so.
In addition, does the character have to sleep at night for a full night's rest, or can it be done any time of the day?
Gestalt makes things weird, but I personally would say that the ability affects the character as a whole in this case. My ruling would be in favor of any ability requiring a full night's rest or 8 hours of sleep, etc, would get the full benefits as long as they sleep 2 hours.
Talk to your GM but I would think the 2 hrs would be enough, its just a mechanical reset and not like its game breaking for it to be 2 hrs vs 8 hrs. It would, however, only work once per day.
