Spammer creating PFS events.

Website Feedback

Don't know how long its been going on but at least one Spam thread was up on my recent post ticker when I logged in today. Its a created event for PFS so I couldn't flag the event but I flagged the post involved. At least its in English this time.

Ya I saw it too and notified the staff, so hopefully it'll get taken down soon.

Yah. Annoying because you can't spam flag the events only if they put posts under them.

I'm keeping a watchful eye on the events right now. Thanks for bringing it to our attention everyone!

The one currently in Recruitment ends in an infinite redirect loop, which causes the site to stop you. There was also a prompt (likely because it's an event?) asking for my login information.

Lots more there since yesterday. I think some sort of software fix is probably in order, even if only to allow users to identify spam "events."

All those event codes that could have been used for PFS events... Plus, the spam is pushing the real gamer connections down on the message boards, making it hard for those looking for games. :(

Until I found this thread I'd been posting in the threads in question to mark my own post as spam. Is it better to do that our drop all the thread links here?

Update: it looks like they are putting their links in quotes to avoid spam cannon?

clever girl....

They're evolving...

Noooooo!!!
The horror!!!!

Would it be possible to put in a fix where someone wanting to post an event would first have to enter their Pathfinder Society member number first before proceeding? Not too big a hassle for existing members that have accounts here, because that info is easily found on the "My Account" page.

They're back, and are now replying to their own events with "better" links. At least it makes them easier to list as spam.

It is better to avoid replying to them at all if possible, so I'd guess Paizo'd want you to put the links here.

yes, I have actual events and the SPAM is just acting as chaff in the messageboard.

Which means they're learning.

Or amusingly we're dealing with competitive spammers.

Spam war?

Folks, please don't post links to spam that uses the events system *anywhere*—it makes it more likely that Google will index them, which gives them what they want. (I have removed all such posts in this thread. If you see other such posts—that is, posts that aren't themselves spam but that reference event spam—please flag them as "breaks other guidelines" so we can remove them.)

If you spot spam in event links, instead of flagging them, please instead drop them in an email to community@paizo.com.

Thanks!
