We'll change the subject back to woman in gaming.

We know that Paizo's leader is a lady, I imagine they have some RPG game time as well.

Lisa is a co-author, producer and manager of RPGs since late 80s. She was one of the people behind the original editions of Ars Magica and Vampire: the Masquerade. Her RPG street cred makes most gentlemen in the business look late younglings who barely joined the hobby.

I have never had any problem or trouble out of any female in any gaming groups (all the way back to first edition), and all the persons involved regardless of gender got along well.

As I recall the female players often had male characters, and male players often enough had female characters.

Females have always been part of the community.

yep yep.

If I have had a problem with a female at the table, it was because of her as a person, not because of her as a woman.

Its hard to say. I play PFS in a game store and some AP home games. The crowd for both is mostly men (80% for the home games, probably closer to 90% for PFS).

Overt "no gurls allowed" stuff isn't common or tolerated, but interpersonal drama happens. People argue and fall out, feelings get hurt, sometimes people reconcile, sometimes they drop out. How much of that is just the perils of any large social activity and how much is gender tensions? Do John and Jane not get along because they're abrasive or because John secretly thinks women shouldn't be gaming? Does Jane think "John is mean because he's a jerk" or "John is mean because I'm a women?" Is she right? It's murky.

I think there has been significant progress. When I was younger my gaming groups were 100% male. Overt sexism is now unacceptable. Covert resentments and bias are harder to root out.

Currently, in my Tuesday gaming group, we have a female player at the table. No issues at all. we edit ourselves because the player hosting it has 3 kids.

My Friday group once had a female player before she moved away.

In Pathfinder Society we have female players of varying numbers.

Removed a series of posts. Again, let's keep this discussion centered on the original topic. We have a variety of community members who would be/are fairly uncomfortable engaging in this conversation when others use phrases typically used to describe "sex" rather than "gender." For the purposes of this thread and keeping our community a welcoming space for gamers of a variety of backgrounds, my team would appreciate if folks used "women" or "girls" from this point on. If you have further feedback on this, please email community@paizo.com. Thanks!

Heh, I had a reply and got ninja'd by moderation. Honestly, I'm glad to get back on topic.

As to specifics;
I love my player H. on Thursdays.
She actually keeps notes, but they always end up hilariously unspecific.
"Old church.

Haunted???
Monsters???
Ghosts???"

still, better notes than B. takes.

I've tried taking notes a few times, but other players take way better notes. You should see our Scooby Doo and the Carrion Crown notes.

I would so love to play in that game. The concept makes me laugh every time I see you mention it.
