Epic, mega exciting news, which means I can give away free stuff!

Over the weekend, something really cool happened. Over on our Patreon campaign, we’ve now ensnared over 100 people in our sinister web.

Even better than that, we are now only $10 away from our next milestone. When we achieve that, we’ll increase our freelancer word rate to nine cents a word.

That’s nine cents a word!

Only a year ago, we were paying one cent a word, but with the support of 100 or so brave and heroic patrons we’ve managed to utterly crush my expectations. Imagine what we could achieve with even more support. Better pay for our cartographer and artists, for a start! Longer books! Perhaps even a Raging Swan Press podcast!

I really want to hit our next milestone. That’s why—if you sign up by the end of the weekend at ANY pledge level—I’ll send you a free copy of Be Awesome at Designing NPCs.

So please, if you can, sign up. If you can’t sign up, please consider telling (or nagging) anyone you know who might be interested in our campaign.

Thank you!

Creighton,

to make it easier for my poor brain (that just got done figuring out stupid perception for the f'n sun of all things..) Give me an example of min/max product this would commit to?

Lets take a high road - I pledge 10 bucks per product - am I paying for all the free stuff as well as the printed stuff - or is this a per cost type of thing - I'm interested but want to figure out what my monthly outlay is - you guys a pretty prolific....

Hi!

Thanks for considering joining our Patreon. At every pledge level you pledge per product, but you can cap your maximum monthly pledge total. So, for example, if you joined up at the $5 level but capped your pledge at $10 no matter how many paid for books we released you'd only ever get charged a maximum of $10.

We release a book a book a week, but every month one of those is a freebie--the GM's Monthly Miscellany. So there are normally three paid-for products a month. Occasionally, there are four depending on how the weeks fall.

Rewards are cumulative so, for example, if you pledge at the $5 level you get all the rewards for the $2 and $5 levels.

I hope that helps and that you decide to join up!

Thanks - that answers most of my questions - two followups...

* Do the 'mini articles' you guys post count (from what I read so far it looks like they don't - although these are awesome and I wonder if I'd consider a separate 'funding' for these at a much smaller scale)

* You make a distinction between 'paid' and free - but my assumption would be if I pledged $5 per product then a typical month would be 20 and some months due to the way we have odd weeks would be 25...?

Is that correct?

No problem!

When I post to Patreon I have the option of making a post "paid" or "free". The mini article posts are always free and patrons are never charged for them. (And I'm delighted you like the articles!)

A typical month (at the $5 level) would be $15. Occasionally--I think about three times a year--we release four paid for products a month because of how the weeks fall. If you want to protect yourself against this extra expense you'd just set you max monthly pledge to $15. You'd still get the extra product--that's my thanks for your support. (You'd also get the GM's Monthly Miscellany which is a free product which you are not charged for). I have absolutely no problem with my patrons setting caps; any support via Patreon is much appreciated.

FWIW, I was a subscriber to Creighton's Patreon at the $5 level and really liked what I was getting out of it. Plus all the freebies and the GM Monthly Miscellany.

The only reason I dropped support was a purely financial decision and not a problem with the content by any stretch of the imagination. And as soon as I can resolve my current financial challenges, I will be back supporting Creighton.

I much appreciate the support (and the kind words) Sethvir and I can't wait in welcome you back into the horde!
