Looking over this rather inexpensive item- Bandage of Rapid Recovery
Quote:
These linen bandages have the same color and softness as the feathers of a dove, but their antiseptic smell suggests a less natural origin. Any creature wrapped in these bandages recovers from wounds and ability damage each day as if receiving complete bed rest regardless of activity. A creature actually receiving long-term care (from the Heal skill) or complete bed rest while wearing the bandages gains a +4 bonus to its effective level or Hit Dice when determining how many hit points it recovers each day. The bandages are destroyed once removed or when the wearer recovers all hit points and ability damage, whichever comes first.
And I'm wondering it's effectiveness and uses while adventuring.
If it up to the GM's discretion when the healing effect triggers, or does it trigger automatically when equipped to an injured person?I'm just trying to figure out if this item would be worth taking with on the journey through the Emerald Spire or any other module, without having to stock up on hundreds of potions.

The healing happens when "natural healing" normally applies. Most DMs treat that as the first thing in the morning.
Here, the benefit is that you still heal if you're disturbed in the night and can't rest properly. There's no instant healing effect. You just get double-hit-dice in hit points each night, as if you'd rested 24 hours.
