If I start a new character from scratch and play 3 core scenarios - Before I play as level 2, can I use Level 1 Retraining to rebuild my character as a Non-Core character?
Example: I play a Paladin for 3 core scenarios but then decide I want to play in the Standard (?) campaign. Can I use L1 rebuild to make him a....lets say a Kineticist....to continue in the Standard campaign.
Assuming this is possible, What happens to the core chronicles? Do they become non core? As players can play each scenario once in Core & once is Standard - Which is still available to me for the 3 scenarios I've already completed?

The act that changes a PC from core to standard is playing a scenario in standard mode. If your core PC has already gained 3 XP, then the next time they hit the table will be as a 2nd level core PC. It is only the act of playing that next game (in standard mode) that switches them over to the standard campaign, which is too late for 1st-level retraining.
If it was a PC with 2 XP, they could play a third game in standard mode, and therefore move to the standard campaign while still having first level retraining open to them (between their 3rd and 4th scenarios).
The relevant quote from the Guide:
If at any time, you play a Core Mode character at a standard mode table, that character becomes a standard mode character.
There is a ruling from Mike Brock which states that 'GM credit babies' are subject to the same restrictions.

You can play each scenario once in core mode and once in standard mode; what happens to the PC later in their progression is irrelevant. Those games/chronicles remain as core, even on a now-standard mode character.
