Does a character under the effect of Memory Lapse glow / exhibit some aura when someone looks at them via Detect Magic? And if so is it right away, or only after concentrating for 2 or 3 rounds to see more?
Or if not, does a different spell have to be used?
Thanks. I have to figure out if my PCs know this has been done to one of them, or how they can find out.

It is an instantaneous effect, so after the initial lingering aura from the spell itself is gone, there is no aura. The spell is as done and gone, no more detectable than a fireball. It can still be reversed by Psychic Surgery, or by Modify Memory if the caster knows the specific event that has been tampered with.

Being an instantaneous effect is the key term here. Imagine it like casting wall of stone. You did use magic to create the wall, but now it's simply a real, physical wall of stone, nothing magical about it.
However, detect magic can pick up "lingering auras", so it could pick up a lingering aura of the Memory Lapse if it was cast quickly enough after the fact.
