I wouldnt be worried at a delay without the bards gate kickstarter. Maybe a little annoyed at the apparent scale of the delay but not worried.
Deciding to start another kickstarter that, given the size of the team, is inevitably going to cause more delays to an already significantly delayed kickstarter, for which people have already pledged 100k+ dollars, is a strange decision.
Now I suspect that they just decided to maintain their internal schedule and had planned to launch a second kickstarter in Q2 of 2016 so they did so.
Unfortunately I have seen too many kickstarters where unforseen expenses / addon costs / etc lead to cash flow problems which prompt a quick second kickstarter to be totally comfortable with the situation.
In all likelihood they are plugging along and there isnt any fundamental problem, but regardless the optics on the decision to move forward with the bards gate kickstarter arent good, and the lack of any delivery date for blight doesnt help reassure.

It may well be that there was going to be a holdup waiting for art so putting Greg on Bards Gate then the blight has no material difference on final arrival time. I'm sure projects like this don't follow a linear development process. So it may be a choice between the blight in March 2017 and no new projects until then, or the blight in March 2017 and a trickle of other stuff too.
Track record means a lot to me. I'd back the next FGG kickstarter blind knowing how good they've been so far - the holdup with the blight barely even rates as a delay measured against most kickstarter products. It just seems slow because it's a FGG kickstarter, in my view.
CD and RA "subscription" we're similarly delayed - they kept pushing other stuff out around them and it all got to us in the end.

Really, with the excellent 100% record I'm not worried at all. It may make more sense to the FGG schedule for them too hammer out the shorter Bard's Gate then concentrate on the massive Blight once it's done. Rather than jumping between the two. As stated I'm sure that Chuck's misfortunes have changed plans and they are juggling as best they can.
Lots of factors can influence these things, and it may all for the better. I don't know. My concern for The Blight is mostly a kneejerk reaction that Bill posted, as I have no reason to think that Frog God Games has anything but the best intentions for the project.
I do find it odd that they shuffled the cards as was indicated, but I hope and (now that I've had more time to process Bill's post in the Bard's Gate thread) believe that the decision wasn't made due to any problems with either project.
So I'm not worried, but totally support GM_Rednal. Better slower beats faster crappier every time.
This I agree with 100%. My initial concern wasn't with any indication that The Blight might be delayed. That's never bothered me.
What I think you often get from KS creators is a reluctance to post updates with no real news. For me that's wrong, if we just hear 'oh it's tootling along, now at 75% or so complete on the layout" is much better than nothing.
Again, agreed 100%. :)

Thank you for that mindblowingly detailed update, Greg. I appreciate it. I'm sorry if I came across as a disgruntled customer, because I'm really not. I became worried (needlessly so) by the mention of you shifting focus from The Blight to Bard's Gate, and you've gone above and beyond in detailing the specifics.
I look forward to unleashing the vile abomination that is The Blight upon my poor, unsuspecting players.

Much appreciated. Just spending my time reading Rappan Athuk for the First Time and Stoneheart Valley again... I feel like a 12 year old again, reading modules over and over and over again because I don't have the $6 to buy another one...

The reason we redid scheduling with Greg was that with Chuck out, we knew we would have delays--and we had a hard deadline (in China) for Bard's Gate that if missed would have caused extreme delay and increased cost dramatically.
Basically we just got behind. Greg is now full time on Blight--and art is coming in; so don't worry too much. The good news is we got Quests of Doom 3 all mailed out this week (it was 60 days late due to Chuck's illness) but its done now!
Have no fear--we will deliver.

Here's how I approach Kickstarters:
1} Do I trust the company? If no, do not pledge. If yes, pledge.
2} Do not read the release date.
3} Be pleasantly surprised when awesome products show up.
So far this technique has served me (very) well. I've backed 18 (funded) projects so far, to the tune of just shy of $3,000 USD. 13 have delivered fully. 1 has delivered the electronic copy of the product and is shipping the physical book soon. 2 (including this one) are works-in-progress, releasing slowly and surely. The remaining 2 are video games, one of which is making progress but behind schedule (no, it's not Star Citizen) and the other isn't supposed to be done yet.
So yeah. I don't know when The Blight is supposed to ship. Don't care. As long as it happens, that'll be good enough for me.

While I can understand the first time Backers concern over The Blight's apparent lack of updates and delay, I have pledged several FGG ks and have received everything that was promised. The delay on this one is a combination of many things, none of which would delay a project on their own but when combined together did affect the production schedule.
Having Bill and Greg come out to try to explain why this project is behind goes a long way on calming my fears. So I ask that you settle back in anticipation of what an awesome book this will be when it arrives, not if it arrives.

And, oh, dear, Your post made me go count how many projects I have backed. I'm north of 50 funded Kickstarters (though I tend to go for lower pledge levels based on our relative contributions). I have no concerns with FGG pledges - ever. They will be worth the coin - and the wait - when they arrive.

Hmmm, the ones that are lightly spiced and grilled until they are crispy, laced with those little live frogs that crunch and taste vaguely of burdock and sugar. Yum.
The book will be on sale afterwards Alice, via the frogs, fret not. I'm also hammering a few crooked nails of adventures slowly into place and that will be available in due course - although obviously stitching flesh together takes time.
I've also recently seen the Tome of Blighted Horrors in her full glory, she's beautiful. The developers John Ling, Alistair Rigg, Jeff Swank and Greg deserve considerable credit for what they've done - frighteningly nasty, I can't express my praise and slight concern enough.

Got an ETA on that, good sir? I am looking forward to adding 'The Blight' to the horror gaming section of my bookshelf.
Since you mentioned that you based it thematically on 'The Styes', which was one of my favorite adventuring locales from the days of Dungeon, I am interested in seeing how it turns out.

Ok, have to ask somewhere, and here will do. The Frog's Facebook page teased printing in Europe and Australia. Can we have more details, as the prices for shipping to Croatia are the most of the reason I only have Sword of Air and nothing else from Frogs in hardcover (and I even wouldn't have that if there wasn't for a friend in Texas).

It is an option the Frogs are looking into, they are in the process of testing how good the printers are. Some of us fans will be ordering books from these printers and confirming/denying that the print/book quality is upto Frogs standard. So this is not happening next week, but is in the process of being checked out.

Yah I am not worried about it getting done, just wondering if there is any timeline for when I might get it into my greedy little hands.
Greg said in July that they expect to be trickling out pdfs in the next month or so, here:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/froggodgames/the-lost-lands-the-blight -richard-petts-crooked-ci/posts/1641808
Though he cautioned he didn't have any firm timelines. First one expected is the Tome of Blighted Horrors.
Don't know for sure on the pdf dates either. I figure probably a couple months in advance of the dates I ball parked below, though these will likely be staggered. For instance, ToBH shouldn't be more than a month or two away...
This was what he said re: the physical product:
As for timeline, to make a guess I'd say end of 2016/beginning of 2017. But I don't have concrete data to back that up, just my sense of it. I'm sorry I can't be more specific.
Anyway, my sense of it is they are getting it done as quick as they can while ensuring it meets their high standards of quality.
:)

Hoping we get an update soonish. Its been a couple months since the last substantive one and you would think the picture would be a little clearer now.
We havent really heard much at all about where the main book sits and when it might come out but I figure even if they were to say today that its basically done and just needs final review before going to the printer we probably wouldnt have it in hand until early next year at best.

cycnet |

Yeah things take awhile. I am not going to lie I am also hungry for an update, but I am trusting that the time they are not spending updating us is being spent working on the product. Still moderately irritating but I love the work the Frogs do and I know in the end this is going to be a book I am excited to have on my shelf.

GM_Sarc |
I am not worried about getting it eventually and it being a high quality book, but as time goes by without seeming to pass any meaningful milestones I do start to worry about just HOW far behind schedule the project might be.
I had planned on using this for my next campaign starting in January. I figured 6 month was enough cushion to feel fairly confident about this being available and having time to give it a read through. Now I am starting to think I may need to scrap that idea and go with something else.

Haladir |

All I can say is... Frog God Games is NOT Fire Mountain Games, and I have the utmost confidence that this will be coming out in the near future.
That said, I've never thrown as much money at a Kickstarter as I did for this one, and I'd kind of like an update, too...
If you want to start running something in The Blight before you have this delightful abomination in your hands, you could pick up Richard Pett's two modules set in The Styes that were published in the old Dungeon magazine:

The Frogs recently posted a couple of updates on Facebook about that, Necromental. They now offer print on demand and localish (with in the EU & to AUS/NZ) for Rappan Athuk for Pathfinder/S&W. I'm sure they'll add more options if Rappan Athuk does well enough.

We have been neating the ponies...errr editors.
Its moving along, this thing is just so darn big. It may be a bit for the main book, but we should start sending out a few of the pdfs of the modules etc sometime in November. I asked Greg to post a detailed updaylte soon.
Bill
Tiny little narcissistic feedback for you. I get the PR urge to dribble out whatever part of a project is done as soon as it is... but I figure I might not be alone in finding that a bit annoying.
Did I already download all the chunks yet? I dunno. Where's the download link for that part I forgot? I dunno. How many parts are there anyway, for what I pledged? I dunno.
Personally I find it a lot less stressful to go from "this project isn't done and I don't need to think about it" to "oh, it's out and I should double-check ONCE that my pledge matches what I've been allowed to download".
I'm probably unique in this... but maybe not.

You need only track any given message once, though. If you get it from the FGG site, it's in your downloads forever and you can return to that library when you need to see what you've received. You can delete the email once you have the product in your library.
At least, that's how I would manage it, whether it's one release or 20.. I wouldn't want to track it in my email at all. Of course, to each his own.

Not necessarily. Much like video game development companies, I believe it's fairly normal for a publisher like FGG to have multiple projects going at the same time. They've clearly explained what happened between The Blight and Bard's Gate (it was mostly an issue of timing for getting the books printed), and it sounds to me like they've got a good handle on everything.
Also, I'm pretty sure doing a third printing of a rulebook is waaaaaay easier than making a new one. XD
