New plan: surround myself with 24 peasant hirelings arranged in concentric rings who have no duty save to move in formation. That way the enemy has to cut through my eta to reach my samurai's mighty bowstrings and if they die, they're eta! Who cares?
Ooh, and I can have them hold up sheets stretched across two posts (per peasant) to block line of sight and line of effect to my square! Magic protections AND melee protection for the low price of 2.5 silver a week, plus room and board!
Or I can buy a glove of storing and just never end my turn with my bow in hand.
