With Ultimate Intrigue apparently being the first of a similar line of books, I feel the need to visit the phrase, "Don't Like It, Don't Use It." It seems like usually this phrase is used to simply dismiss the opinions of others. However, I think that things are different with these books. After all, these seemed to be about ways to alter Pathfinder to better fit a particular genre.

Ultimate Intrigue isn't about how to alter PF into fitting a specific genre. It's the equivalent to Ultimate Combat or Ultimate Magic. It has optional rules that allow you to do stuff you couldn't already do... because that's what all books in pathfinder do.
Think of it like how Ultimate Combat added firearms. It's new material, a new class, but it doesn't alter the genre of the game. It just increases the genres you Can play.
The "genre" books aren't the ultimate line. They are the adventure line; mythic adventures, occult adventures, horror adventures.
