Gunslinging Orachemist

Advice

Okay okay i have been posting a bit much about this same character build however this one is actually about the build not just asking for ideas or what works or whatever the past few threads have been about

Okays so with racial stats which btw he is a Skin-walker Bloodmarked

Tristan of the Frost-wing Clan, True neutral

Strength-7
Dexterity-16
constitution-11 i plan to bump this to 12 with the level 4 increase
Intelligence-16
Wisdom-16
Charisma-11

Here is the part that is difficult for me to decipher as to whether or not it will end up blowing chunks.

The main class will be Alchemist specifically- Vivisectionist and Chirugeon.

5 levels of Gunslinger for the Dex to damage and proficencies and whatnot

1 level of oracle of either winter or water(depending on whether or not my Gm allows Obscuring mist to use snow instead for winters snow sight revelation. as well as the Lame curse for the reasoning below

The character is based off Greg House from the t.v. show House. He (the character i am building) is one of the Blood-marked, in his clan he was a Surgeon and the village doctor. The character never much agreed with his clans old ways but didn't really see a need to stop them due in part to their older ways of thinking and what not he was seen as the most intelligent and one of the chief leaders of said village. His clan btw is from Irrisen Aka Magic eternal winter Russia.

Not really caring for Gods or much for magic, Tristan He sought power through science and would often lock himself away in his laboratory or leave his home for extended periods of time in search of special things he might need for experiments. In the process he discovered blueprints and documents describing the Guns specifically pistols.

Tristan unfortunately due to his clans stupidity became addicted to drinking blood, more-so than the others of his clan. After this event he for years could not break this addiction with his own will power so in turn now seeks a way by any means. This addiction eventually lead him to being cursed by a powerful fey witch.

the curse resulted in the following

- His leg is in constant pain only relieved by drinking blood

-An intense fear of physical contact e only that only occurs when near people this effect only applies to living things. As such he tends to drink only from freshly dead corpses.

He does truly care about people despite his Grumpy sarcastic outer attitude and tries to help although his words tend to come out meaner than he intends.

Now just as a quick reminder this mainly for critic's on the build and suggestions on how to fix it if it is bad.

For dex to damage with guns, Trench Fighter Archetype Fighter gets it faster than Gunslinger, at level 3. What you'll really be missing from Gunslinger is Quick Clear, which you can pick up with a single Gunslinger level, or you can take the Amateur Gunslinger Feat to get Quick Clear.

Just took my first look at trench fighter it seems really good and only replaces the Armor Training. only needing to take 3 levels is nice as well. as well as giving 2 extra bonus feats and the best ability Bravery! (sarcasm)

Which parts are sarcastic and which aren't?

the parts about bravery being good in any sense/ other than that it actually seems like it would be better to go 3 levels in trench fighter rather than 5 in gunslinger since 1 of the bonus feats can easily fix the quick clear problem

Fair enough.

Trench Fighter stacks with Martial Master, Armor Master, Savage Warrior, and some racial archetypes. Savage Warrior gives bonuses on saves against death effects, might be a bit better than Bravery.

The Gunslinger class gives some other cool tricks, but taking more levels would mean you lose out on more Alchemist goodies.

Seems pretty legit. The gimmick is hide in mist, be concealed, and then Sneak Attack out with guns.

Less Gunslinger and more Trench Fighter as mentioned frees up a level, which will give you the ability to go deeper into Alchemist slightly faster.

The question I've got for you is what the rest of your party looks like, and will they help the enemies stay anchored to within 30 feet of a cloud of gunshots.

As of right now there is no telling what the rest of the party is. Sorry.

Also is there anyway of getting obscuring mist on the alchemist spell list? i would still need the oracle levels but this could help make obscuring mist better. All i have for answers is the older version of ALchemical prodigy

It's a shame you can't sneak attack and bomb. Bombs would be pretty awesome, as there are smoke bombs and can be used as part of a full attack sequence. Unfortunately, that would require some horrible Rogue/Alchemist multiclassing to get the most out of it, and you'd lose extract caster levels.

Just buy a wand of Obscuring Mist.

actually i once did a rogue alchemist kobold..... it went horribly.

Also one more recent suggestion to ask about Slayer could work way better than Alchemist . Opinions?

Personally, I think the alchemist would be a better fit. First, you have better progression on sneak attacks; second, you still have your mutagen, which can be a great buff in combat; and, finall, the vivisectionist and chururgeon archetypes fit the idea of your character being one who harms and heals much better.

On the other hand, the Slayer could give you some ability to sneak attack from further away (either through the sniper archetype or deadly range talent) and bonuses to certain skills and attack rolls and damage. The cleaner archetype might also be an idea but it's abilities don't really start to help until level 4...

I would more support it as an addition, not a replacement...

Check with your GM to see if Trench Fighter is allowed. If I remember correctly, it is only intended to be used at all if the campaign setting uses the 'guns everywhere' option instead of the default 'emerging guns'.

the gm loves guns, it would be allowed

Revolvers? Modern SMGs? Kevlar armour? Those are similar assumptions for when Trench Fighter is allowed.

It's always better to check first and have permission in advance than to complete a build only to have to nerf it afterwards.

Either way, have fun.

well either way i have gunslinger as a backup, trench fighter may be better but it isnt to far off from the build in question
