Hey folks,
A brilliant idea to solve the charcter token problem...
As you know nobody is happy with using the token card for character placement at the location. It is difficult to pick up... It always sticks to my table.
So solution is
- pathfinder battles prepainted mini: these are all available for RotR, but not for SS or OP characters.
- pathfinder pawns: available for RotR but not for SS or OP characters
- print your own pawns is lame, not good quality and handling
So WHAT is the solution?
I came across this Kickstarter game "Tiny epic defenders" where another company named Meeple Source produced the wooden tokens.

These are cheap and very sturdy if you play with kids or drink too much beer. The pathfinder battles minis are perfect regarding the design and look... But are very sensitive, may be you will break some tiny plastic staff or sword off....
There are no wanye reynolds paintings on these but these are designed by a good match to the original characters...
@emailed this idea to Meeple Source... May be they as paizo for licensing.
What about wooden meeples ? what do you think?

I love wooden meeples when I say this but... I feel like PACG would be an awful game for meeples. I can't put my finger on it, but I think PACG + meeples, and the first thing that pops into my mind is "No ."
As for
"As you know nobody is happy with using the token card for character placement at the location. "
I wouldn't speak for everyone like that. My whole gaming group loves them. The awesome art, and just the general fact of being a card makes it fit with the game.
Minis would just be too expensive, and the price point is already a bit high as is (though totally worth it!). Pawns work, and I would use those if I had any use for the rest that come with them --- my group already has every pawns box, so we already have what we need for the RPG.

Well, it was just an idea for Skulls and Shackles.... There is no complete set of pawns or battle minis available yet... :-(((

Honestly, I would hate using meeples. For me the whole point in miniatures and/or pawns would be that they represent the characters better than the token cards, not worse.
But I see why would somebody love them, they seems to be fun.
I'm consider getting the NPC Codex Box pawns, especially if the missing characters - new iconics, some clerics from the class deck etc - get their own pawn released in some way in the foreseeable future.

The Meeples from that kickstarter are cool, but I probably would not purchase something like that for PACG.
I would buy packs of pre-painted minis for each AP, however. I am not sure at what price point such a pack would become unreasonable to me, but I think that the there is no doubt that these would fly off the shelves, not just to PACG players but also to the RPG players, both in PF and many other systems. I have never been one to buy minis blind, but I spend quite a bit buying minis when I know what I am getting.
They could use existing molds for the characters that already have minis. They would certainly need to have a different paint scheme if they took this route, to not completely kill the secondary market of the existing minis.
The point being, its not a lack o profit that would be an issue here. Its a matter of how to make this work with the current minis business model, without interfering or damaging the current model.

I like the cardboard pawn that Zoltan is talking about ... especially for this game. However, I do wish that Paizo would put together all the iconics in one pre-painted set. I think the set I got just had Valeros, Kyra, Merisiel and Ezren. All the others have to be picked up from other sets. Plus have an APG set and now an ACG set plus the ones from Ultimate Magic and Ultimate Combat. Not sure why they haven't repackaged them this way for PFS and other Pathfinder adventures where you bring in the pre-gen'd iconics.

Current available prepainted minis from pathfinder battles are for collectors.
Please introduce the same mold and same painting but mark the minis on the bottom of the base as non-collectible but set-based. It is so simple.
You may start with Skulls and Shackles as I already got the complete prepainted RoTR mini set for 300 USD, just for 11 rotr and 2 ss minis.... Unbelievable :-)
