Myfly, if you saw the Artisan Dice and the Wyrmwood Dice Towers, you'd realize saying it is "only" a d20 is not accurate. For shame ...

Do I need more than 8 sets? Heck no. Even without rerolling dice, I could probably get by with 4 or 5. Why stop there though? I have more dice than I'll ever need of various sizes, designs, and materials (love my steel dwarven dice), and I'm totally OK with that. When I sit down for PACG I empty multiple dice bags and cups, just for myself. So does everyone else at the table.

Who needs sets? I go by the pound.

Haha yea that's one or two people in our group. Bought a bunch of sets, mixed them together, and any time we start something that stretches over time (an RPG campaign, PACG, whatever), he'll sort through probably 5-10 pounds of dice of various types and styles to find a few matching sets to use. He inevitably picks at least one set that is missing the d4 and / or d6 -- which are most important because he's always a caster who loves Fireball and Magic Missile.

Hey Vic,
Sounds like you created a new Paizo shop item:
1 pound of dice
I know how heavy it is regarding dhipping costs, but what would be paizos price tag?
Did you even check his link? It's $31.48 during the summer sale, $34.98 otherwise. Dice are manufactured by Chessex, so decent quality, although dice in the pound o dice bag are (almost) all factory seconds due to cosmetic issues -- they'll all roll normally but some of them may look funky.

Plus there are Chessex locations in Europe so it would be cheaper to deal directly with Chessex than buying the same product thru Paizo. btw, Paizo has been selling that item for a while. (For Pathfinder RPG …)

While I don't know the number of sets I have, I do know that they include the S&S, Wrath, and Mummy's Mask sets

I did not know yet, that every adventure path has its own dice sets...
Why are these not connected with PACG store paths?
Why are those not in the game box, but generic boring blue ones?
The latter is the question of the day!
Cant wait to get a Skeletor answer LOL
So, my Fiancee got me the S&S dice set when we started playing S&S. It is a 7 die set (d4, d6, d8, 2x d10 [percentile], d12, d20). The dice are kinda neat, with the skull replacing the high number, but they are hard to read. Also, S&S doesn't require the d20.
I think your average player would rather have boring but easy to read dice; if you want special dice, buy the accessory. They are also made by Q Workshop and licensed by Paizo, so I expect including them in Base Sets would raise the price of the set; I just don't have a feel for how much.

First, you do realize that the Adventure Paths are mainly RPG, right? That the partnership between Paizo and Q-Workshop is for creating dice sets for those Adventure Paths. (And not the PACG.)
Second, Vic has already answered your question about why those dice in the sets. Paizo is not in the dice business. They put an appropriate set of dice in the box. They're blue.
Third, not every Adventure Path has its own dice set. There are plenty of Adventure Paths.
Dice sets are available under licensed products since they're licensed and not manufactured by Paizo. And you'll notice, like I said, that not all the Adventure Paths are represented although most are.

I usually use three sets of the standard D&D layout. Yes, the d20s are not used and I have more d10s but it works well for many characters. My preference is for a color scheme that matches the character, v t I am usually only partially matched up to that goal. The themed Adventure Path dice sets are too busy for my taste. That is something I have noticed about many themed dice sets. I wish we saw more alternate fonts with a symbol for the high face.

Oh, and for my sets ...
Since I run multiple sessions of OP, I still use 10 each of d4 (yellow), d6 (purple), d8 (red), d10 (blue) and d12 (green) and 3 d20s (white). I have tried the Koplow dice and the Chessex dice. All solid colors; opaque. I prefer the colors of the Chessex solids. So when people need to roll a d8, we can say "grab the red one", etc. Makes for easy learning and easy recognition. They're always consistent.
For my personal bag, I have the Koplow dice I didn't like. Same colors but just different hues. And the numbers vary but I have more than 4 sets of each in the bag plus 3 white d20s.
In each bag is also a pirate-themed d6 for plunder. And in my personal bag, I also carry 4 white d6 with pips just in case I need to roll up and RPG character.

I got this set because it helps people especially spot the difference between a d8 and a d10. Plus the premium plunder die, just because.
Some of you might recall that I mentioned most dice manufacturers use the same die molds, including the company that makes the dice for PACG and our Beginner Box. Oddly, only *some* of those dice are from that standard mold. (The easiest way to tell is to look at the shapes of the "3" and the serifs on the "1")

Why are these not connected with PACG store paths?
Because they're a full set of 7 RPG dice, and if we put them in the PACG section, some people would be confused about why they all have a d10 numbered in tens, and why the RotR and Wrath sets have a d20.
Why are those not in the game box, but generic boring blue ones?
Because it would make our $60 game a $70 game.

First off I used some gold Silver and Copper dice I found on Amazon.
Gold, Silver Bronze Polyhedral Dice _ Set of 30 Dice
I got sick of those after a while so I've been buying up the sets that look like so
Polyhedral 7-Die Gemini Dice Set - Gold-Green with White CHX26425
With green as the underlying theme color. Have 5 sets so far
