So, if we give y'all a schedule of the culls, then there's a high chance that a bunch of people will stop voting until after the culls. But if people do that, we won't have enough votes to properly cull the entries. So, the more people we have voting and the more votes cast the more timely and accurate we can be with paring the entries down. Go tell your friends to come and vote!
Don't give us a schedule, I have enough trouble planning my daily life already.

I don't care to have the schedule posted. But I already feel voting goes down after the first 2-3 days after a cull, until the next cull happens. Or when they see their item. Or their item is posted to the tracking sheet.
Which raises the question of if we should even have a detailed tracking sheet. I know it is ran by the voters, but as you point out it does seem to have an effect on the number of votes being made.
Of course the cat is out of the bag now so it isn't like we can take the sheet away without seeing another one, certainly a direct copy, pop up after a day or two.

Would those missing votes have increased accuracy if they'd been cast? It's possible that a voter who only wants to see their item doesn't care that much about analyzing other items.
Possible? Sure, anything's possible. But I find its generally a reasonable assumption that most people will act in good faith.

A thought: it sounds like culls happen after a certain number of votes have taken place. At least, that's the general feel I'm getting from some posts. If a counter of Total Votes Placed versus Votes Remaining Until Next Cull was instituted (clearly not for this season), would that, perhaps, give the voters more incentive to vote? I mean, I think I can safely say that we like the culls... perhaps too much at times... so a counter that shows our progress toward the next cull could spur us on to reach specific goals.
DISCLAIMER: I fully admit that I haven't thought about the ramifications of such a feature for more than a few minutes. I'm just spitballing and am completely okay with the way things are currently.

Cool idea in theory, but keep in mind how much more influence that would give Mr. Thomas LeBlanc over the contest results; (scroll up to see what I mean).

Assuming we're talking about Champion Voters in general, it wouldn't give them any more power than they already have. The counter would merely show us how much work has been done. Champion Voters and the like are still contributing roughly the same amount in comparison to the other voters, but it might close the gap slightly if it increases the votes coming from Marathon and below.

True enough. Someones that's marathon or more is already voting a LOT. There's a much larger margin of increase for the other voters than there is for them.

The more we can get people to vote, the less impact Champion voters or (tin-foil hat time) voting cabals have = very good thing.

Also, if Paizo asked for the sheet to be taken down, it would be.
Private versions lose the public crowdsourcing that makes it so powerful.I don't think that it would be a Good Thing, but I'm sure all contestants would respect Paizo's decision.

I think the sheets serve more as a confidence booster for people with items still in the running. Having the sheet public keeps it organized and allows sociability and stimulates voting.
I agree a total vote counter would be awesome and I think it would speed up voting to reach the next cull...speaking of which I believe it is time for me to do my blood rituals again, it took some effort but I collected 36 virgins from various 5th edition groups around the southern California area and am ready to appease the cull god.

I'm actually against us knowing the schedule for culls. As mentioned, it would impede the voting process until the culls were about to happen, or until after they happened. And really...we don't gain anything from knowing other than satisfying a curiosity.
I'm also all for Paizo keeping secret the actual data for the contest, other than what they've given to us in previous competitions (votes cast, number of Champions/Marathons/Dedicateds/Stars, etc.)

Unless I am mistaken :
Start of the voting : 17th of august, approx 9pm, 688 items (according to the Seen List)
1st cull : 20th of august approx 12 am : 63 hours later, 542 items left (ie, minus 146 items, that is a 21% cull)
2nd cull : 21st of august approx 11 pm : 35 hours later, 448 items left (ie, minus 84 items, that is a 15,5% cull)
At the moment : more than 72 hours later, still waiting for the 3rd cull.
I would love to know how the culls are planned ;-P

Recalculate only using workdays and ignoring weekends, and that's how I looked at things.

Apparently it's based solely off how much voting happens. Which seems weird given the number of people who jumped from dedicated to marathon over the weekend. Then again I've been voting less due to largely to boredom from seeing the same items paired against each other endlessly. I suspect from the information given that there's a dedicated voting heart to the competition and everyone else is losing interest.

This. I'm tired of seeing the same dozen of so items over and over again. There are something like 400 items and I see only one new one every other day.
