To be fair to Paizo, they did ask us to submit "an item" (singular) in the round rules.
And I would dearly love to meet the programmer able to identify plural names for an is/are option on the button - it would be a nightmare to code as it would have to check items with missing names, names with [ B] tags, name in the name field not matching name in the item block, etc.
Why ? Why do you have me upvote that preposterous joke item on the other side ?

But, but, but, isn't it your job to keep the items that you love voting for so much alive and well through the culls?

Just a reminder, some of the obvious IP infringement are of IP that are unoriginal to start with, so it may not be thief.
And there is such a thing as coincidence, also. I've seen plenty of build advice threads that went like:
1: "I want a character who can do X, Y, and Z."
2: "Oh, so you're trying to build [character from some obscure anime series]?"
1: "Uh... who?"

Okay boys and girls it's time for another mini rant on game design. This time the topic is visuals...
-An item that has awesome effects but makes my character look like he's auditioning for the Village people will not beat out another item that has good mechanics and doesn't make me look like I'm going to cover Macho-Macho Man.
-A weapon that makes me squee because what I can do with it is Sooooo cool then it ruins itself with an extra power tied to a visual effect. This may well be enough to edge itself out of the top 32! The weapon is that nifty to that point.
-Another item on my keeper list would require many of my characters to stow the main item on a beast of burden or make me wear mule chords... Cool visual but come on you couldn't make that an amulet that grows into that or something. Would not even need to occupy the slot (see amulet of fireballs.) It leaves em with the visual of you're serious item being stowed on a mule, not cool.
-Another item is absolutely in my top 32 and it would force em to either invest in a hat of disguise or accept that my dour undead hunter Inquisitor concept is going to embrace cross dressing. Okay this one is less of a knock because I sort of love that idea, he's super serious about frill and lace dammit.

This has happened to me several times before, and while it's awkward, it's usually easier to assume it's original rather than checking up on everything ever made. Someone's bound to have come up with the same idea at some stage or another, and it can be easy to mistake a distant memory with a brilliant idea.

Keeping on upvoting the workshopped items. Not because I saw them before but because they are honestly at least one order of magnitude better.
So, any hopeful who does not make Top8 this time : next season, workshop your item. It is really well worth it.

We're already forced into wearing silly headbands to boost mental stats.
The last time I saw a fantasy character wearing a headband and thought it was cool, I was 12 and playing Chrono Trigger on SNES.

Oh there you are again! Please, please double check that your auras match your caster level. Your item is amazing. Your format is good. Please stop haunting me after missing that one detail. T-T

It was quite similar in tone to this thread and there was also a Praise thread (Armory of Awesome) then. So I think comparison is reason in this case ;-)
