[PFS] How to rule Peacemaker in PFS

Rules Questions

Peacemaker:
The DC to resist spells you cast to ensure peace or force aggressive creatures to become peaceful increases by +2. This affects spells that dissuade creatures from aggressive actions without exerting long-term or absolute control over them, and without leaving them defenseless. These spells include, but are not limited to, calm animals, calm emotions, command, compassionate ally, enthrall, euphoric tranquility, sanctuary, and serenity.

This feat has GM fiat written all over it but it's completely legal for PFS. What other spells should fall under this banner and should spells that sometimes qualify and sometimes not like Sow Thoughts be able to qualify based on use?

Edit: Also what about debuff spells that penalize attacking? Something like Archon's Aura could be said to dissuade creature's from aggressive actions as could Bestow Curse or Mark of Justice situationally. The language is so vague.

Since the wording is "spells you cast to ensure peace or force aggressive creatures to become peaceful" I would say that spells which simply provide a penalty on attacks would not qualify.

I would allow the bonus on sometimes yes, sometimes no spells based on the specific situation.

I find the guiding idea of "when in doubt, side with the players" to be pretty good. It certainly makes for a more pleasant gaming atmosphere.

On the general topic, there are lots of effects in the game which require the GM to rule within the context of the current game. That's why we have GMs. Oddly enough I agree with the rulings more often than effects with no room for interpretation. Perhaps because they have to actively think about it and often talk it out with the players to gain some consensus.

Opressive boredom, hideous laughter are good examples for this feat.

is certainly the key phrase.

I can imagine even a grease on a weapon, or glue seal to glue someone in place and hindering them to enter combat could work.
Or an illusionary wall with silent image. Plenty of room for creative options here and really a nice feat.

Champions of Purity also has the social trait, Mediator which has similar wording.

Spoiler:
You have a way with calming tempers, using cool logic to sooth heated disagreements, and you were always the one to settle arguments among your friends, family, and community. You receive a +1 trait bonus on Diplomacy checks. In addition, you receive a +1 trait bonus to the DC of any charm or compulsion effect that does not provide ongoing control and results in peaceful acts, such as calm emotions, sleep, or a suggestion to lay down arms.

The spells it calls out as examples are calm emotions, sleep, and certain uses of suggestion.

Sleep would not work for Peacemaker because it leaves the target defenseless. But suggestion should work just fine.

Also, charm person, charm monster, and charm animal should all work as well.

Edit: Even though the context of this is for PFS, this thread really belongs in the Rules Forum.

Oh wow, cool feat! I never noticed that feat before - might have to pick that up for my Mesmerist. After all, I've always wanted the DC for my Extended Command spell to be twenty-five after all my buffs.

Muahahahahaha.
