Reign of Winter Class Suggestion

Pathfinder Adventure Path General Discussion

I was wondering what classes would be ideal for Reign of Winter Adventure Path. I know we are only allowed Core Classes and the Advanced Players Guide Classes. What do people suggest and any possible fun combo classes like multi-classing or interesting builds?

Are archetypes legal? We've got a Viking in our group who's having a blast.

I'm doing... a little less well with a winter witch. I'm the only caster, though, which is a factor. ^_^

I am looking at a wizard but not sure what school to specialize in. so many options lol

Well .... Evoker (Admixture) with a fire fetish will do all kinds of bad things to the bad guys. Force spells for your secondary spells. :)

Classes that will do well?

Well, Ranger for one. You can start off with Humans as a favored enemy and still not go wrong with it. Ranged or melee, doesn't matter.

If the GM allows the Unchained Rogue, I would suggest that class. The upgrades to the class actually turn the Rogue into a class worth staying in rather than as a branch-off point for a Prestige class.

Going Bard is also something to consider. The group will be running into penalties as a result of the environment. The bonuses a Bard provides is damn useful. There are also multiple opportunities for use of diplomacy and bluffing, so a high-charisma "face" character will work quite well... and will continue to be useful for quite a few sections of the AP.

Finally... you could always consider just playing a Fighter. The large number of Feats will allow you to build a character who can in time ignore the terrain penalties from snow and adjust to various conditions while still wearing heavy armor. (Indeed, a Dwarven fighter isn't even slowed down by heavy armor.)

I am looking at winter witch as archetype and prestige class. What suggestions do you have for this kind of character?

Short version: take the Slumber hex, and use it - judiciously. If you spam it, fun can suffer.

Also, accept that it might be a long time before you can rely on cold magic. Unearthly Cold and such take a long time to arrive.

Try not to be the party's only spellcaster.

Consider your patron carefully. The winter witch uses a limited list, but maybe you can convince your GM to let you use something not on the list from a more recent source. I had ancestors for the party-buffing.

Check out the variant multiclassing from Pathfinder Unchained - VMC oracle (waves) gives you access to Freezing Spells. Might be fun to try.

Show your GM the Crystal Tiara from Unchained, just to put the idea in their head.

Any questions? Here or PM is fine. ^_^

Fire may help, and the AP occasionally offers specific benefits to witches sometimes. Gunslinger may be fun too.
