Balazar monster discard power

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

Alahazra as far as I can tell can recharge any number of cards to examine any number of locations when she wants correct? Can't she also discard any number of divine trait cards from hand at the end of her turn to gain that same amount of cards from her discard back?

So can Balazar discard any number of monsters (assuming he has them) to add multiple D4s to fight barriers or obtain items?

Each power can be used once per check or step, whether that is step of an encounter or step of the turn (unless the power is a reaction to something).

If a power says it may be used when something happens, you may use it every time that happens. Otherwise, a specific card’s power may only be used once per check or step.

You can use powers unlimited between steps.

Alahazra's examine power can be used once during any step of the turn (but not when encountering a card) and an unlimited number of times between the steps of the turn.

Alahazra's "swap" cards specifically says it is used during the "End of the Turn" step. So she can only use it once.

Balazar's power is used during a check, so it can only be used once.

Gotcha - so the scout power is considered between steps so it can be used on an unlimited basis.

I find a single D4 to be a pretty ineffective addition, especially when handling barriers, but I guess it's there to help. Balazar can discard multiple monsters when fighting with his cohort, so that's cool.

The nice thing though is that it isn't limited to just his checks or just characters at his location. It adds to any check to defeat a barrier and any check to acquire an weapon, armor, or item. Your friends will like you.

Balazar's 2nd power also let's you banish a monster from your hand to draw a card. From where? Your deck, the location deck, the box?

In the WotR rulebook it says if an ability says "draw a card" and doesn't say from where it means your character deck.
