Oh look it's this thread again...
I hope the wish-list fairy brought you all your top picks...
Now that Thurs - Sun is settled, I'm looking to run We Be Goblins Free! in the noonish slot. Chris/Marc, you've got mail!
Looking forward to another great year at Gen Con!
See you there!
Tom

Hey, Tom!
Yes, we'll be back at Scotty's (and I never got an email, so you may have sent it to the wrong Mark.)
At any rate, I'll be posting a call for GMs in the next couple of weeks (we're ahead of last year, but since Gen Con is moved up, I need to make sure that call goes out a bit earlier.)
Yes, it seems I missed the Mark... :)
You (should now) have mail...
Thx,
Tom

If you signed up on Warhorn last year, it's still there (just renamed) and I kept all the old regisrations. :)
Is this something that newcomers can get in on? I'll be in Indy earlier this year than previously and hoped to get some extra PFS in. :)

It's open to whomever signs up to play. I've been able to play 2 out of the last three years and had a lot of fun. The food is fantastic and the atmosphere is energized. It did feel a bit crowded last year, but that's a good thing, right? :)

Talon:
Newcomers are welcome! I was just pointing out that those who were registered lats year would still be registered (assuming they didn't cancel.) I used the same Warhorn site (so I didn't have to ask for a new one), but I just changed the name.
:)

Sorry, what I meant, but didn't convey well, was to ask if those who aren't already signed up (newcomers) could get the Warhorn link. Or is it too early?
Thanks!

Only two events planned so far Mark?
Yep. So far, that's what people have said they would run. I have a couple of GMs who have said they'd run whatever I need, but I don't yet know what those will be. Otherwise, the schedule is pretty much wide open.
Right now, I'm awaiting for VO GMs, then I'll open it up to GM's generally. Once I get those games set, then I'll let players start signing up for particular games.

Hello, I'm new to both these boards as well as Pathfinder but a vet to both Gencon and RPGs in general. I just read that you guys host events on Wednesday at Scotty's which is awesome as I'm always looking for something to do the day before the Con when I drive into town.
Is there a way a new player can get into one of these games?

Mark, do you have info from Scotty's on how many tables they will make available to us for each time slot?
As mentioned above, I'm up to GM in the evening slot - I'd like to run #3-02: Sewer Dragons of Absalom, but can definitely run something else if needed.
Right now, I think we're with the same number as last year:
First slot (4.5 hours): 9 tablesSecond slot (4.5 hours): 9 tables
Third slot (4 hours): 3 tables
Some tables will seat 6 plus a GM; some will only seat 4 plus a GM. Those are hard limits. There will be no 7 person tables, and the 4 person tables are actually booths, so there is no chance to squeeze more people in.) And, there will be NO outside gaming allowed. I would prefer if people would understand that is the rule from the General Manager, his mind isn't going to change (it hasn't for years), and people continuing to ask him could potentially make him unhappy. So, please, let's just all understand there will be no outside gaming, and just accept that as a fact.
But, right now, I'm taking GM requests only from Venture-Officers. Probably late Friday this week, or Saturday morning, I'll issue another call to GMs generally. Once I get most of the slots filled with GMs and scenarios, I'll turn on the event sign up so players can sign up for individual games (people can go ahead and register for the overall event now if they'd like, that's fine, but they won't be able to sign up for specific games just yet.) I hope to have that option all ready to go sometime in June (2nd to 3rd week, maybe, if not sooner?)
Keep in mind that I'm going to start at least two more threads about this event, one for an open call for all GMs and then one for players.

Time slots mighty tight for sealed gate
I toyed with only doing 2 slots, but we have such great turnout, I just couldn't pull the trigger on that. So, it's the same 3 slots we had last year.
That last slot is crammed on time (4 hours), and we cannot go beyond 9 p.m. If a scenario can't be run in that time, then we need to figure something else out.

based on previous yr. or 2, do people play/gm all 3 slots.
Perhaps 3 slots as 10-3, noon-5 and 4-9 would be a consideration.
Would limit one to doing 1rst and 3rd slot or just doing 2nd slot.
Would make for not having to rushing through a scenario and get the full experience.
Just an idea. Food for thought. My 2cp.

Actually, lots of people do play or GM all 3 slots. But, I would hate to have tables assigned to us that wouldn't be in use for several hours, particularly as the lunch crowd comes in (which usually starts around 11) - I'm sure they'd just give those tables to their regular customers or to the other gamers there.
But, maybe I can see about adjusting a bit here and there.

I think there needs to be a break later to get badges from PFS HQ at the convention center, given that a large number of folks are Volunteer DMs. The VOs usually skip out later for the dinner.

I can't put a break in the schedule without losing tables, so if someone needs to leave to go get their badges, which I understand, they can do that.
The VC dinner isn't until later, so a VC (or, if the VC isn't attending, then the VL going in his or her place) could do the first and second slot, and still be done a couple of hours before the dinner.

Hmm.. then consider this a request to those considering GMing all day at Scotty's. I would LOVE to be part of a table that sat and played the 3 Scions of the Sky Key missions straight through with a single group of people for the whole day. Such a long endeavor is not one I've been able to participate in before, and I think that Scotty's would be a super fun environment to play such a series where we can sit, eat, drink, and roleplay a consistent party of characters from 8am-9pm (just think... 13 hours!). If this sounds like your idea of fun and you'd like to GM a game like that, please let Mark know!
