Hello all,
I've got a question on a player joining in the middle of the Season of the Shackles Adventure Path.
We've played through 4-1 and I just got an email from a guy wanting to join. What are his options.
p.5-6 of the PACG Guide gives three options.
Option 1 and 3 make sense to me (although neither is great.) Option 2 is not clear.
Option 2 is pick a pregen and play them. Is the intention here...
A) You pick a pregen and then run them like a normal character from that point forward, gaining rewards along the way?
Or is it...
B) You play a pregen for that scenario only then if you were to play another scenario with the same pregen you'd use the exact same pregen?
If A this would put the new player ahead of the curve as pregens have 4 skill and power feats and by 4-1 the party only has 3 of each.
If B this doesn't seem very fun to play a character who never advances.
Thoughts appreciated.

The pregens aren't meant to be used as your primary character. Ideally no one would be playing a pregen for more than a couple scenarios during the whole path. They're more meant for if no one brought a healer and someone wants to play Kyra instead of their Rogue for the one scenario, or to show someone how the game works.
The pregens never upgrade no matter how many times you play them, because they aren't supposed to be used as your main character, but a replacement for when the situation doesn't call for your actual character.

The pregen have more feats is a byproduct of the change to the rewarding of power feats in relation to the role card. The guide wasn't changed when the adventures were.
And I think in this case, the intention is that the pregen becomes your character and upgrades from there. This isn't "taking one for the team" it is joining late.
So I think option 2 means A. If you have the pre-edit scenarios, check and see if by 4-1 you would have had 4 of each. Is so, perhaps all that is in order is for Tanis to pop in and say "3 of each now".
EDIT: Also, any chance the 4th skill feat is from the loot ally? By that I mean, did you just count feat rewards and there are only 3? Or do your characters only have 3 each, even after each using the loot ally?

Well, option B doesn't make sense because you'd have to apply the scenario rewards/deck upgrades to your character.
Andrew, it doesn't make sense either. Pregens are usually for people who've never played before and want a character prebuilt for them because they don't know how to build their deck. But they want to do the same things other people do, like add to their character.
If I had to rule myself (this is something Tanis needs to clarify), I'd probably allow them to build on the pregen, with the provision that you can't take any skill/power/card feat reward before (whatever the 4th skill/power/card feat reward is).

I have a Question.
At the top of page 7 of the guide, it says,
"In Adventure Card Guild play, your character’s tier
determines what adventures he can play, what deck
upgrades he can access, and what feats he can get."
Should this read what adventures he can RE-play, upgrades can access, and feats can get?
