So, how does the Black Market Connections feat work?

Advice

I'm a little confused by this feat. Supposedly, it gives you a 100 GP "Resource Pool" to be used to acquire illegal goods.

So, how does this resource pool work?

Does the feat just give you 100 GP with the caveat that you can only use them to buy illegal stuff? Is the pool refreshed every time you return to town? Every level? Do you have to ration that 100GP over your character's lifespan? Can you just buy anything less than 100 GP for free as long as it's illegal? Does it just reduce the cost of illegal items by 100 GP? The feat mentions poisons and evil magic items as things that could be bought. I have a hard time believing that you could find any magic item or effective poison that costs less than 100 GP. Can you add GP from your WBL to this pool? What makes it different from your normal money?

I don't exactly understand how the feat is supposed to work.

I think this really is up to you and the GM. I would say 1 time use, of 100 resource pool would make sense, and then either you would have to contribute needed items/services to build pool back up.

New locations would need successful skill roles to connect to the black market, plus some form of bartering to gain access to resources.

1 time use seems very weak for a feat.

The Profits of Kalistrade feat is very similar, I'd take a look at that.

Doesn't that feat state that the items in question are lent?

I can't see how you could lend someone a poison and expect it back, given the typical use of poisons.

The feat only give you 100 gp. Mistakes happens.

They both use the words "resource pool", so if you or your DM wanted to model it after that, it wouldn't be the craziest thing.

As-is, it sounds like you just get a one-time 100 gp, which for a feat is awful. Take Rich Parents as a trait (valued at half a feat) for like, eight times the gold.

If you want to feel terror, try dealing with a first level party that all took Rich Parents. Masterwork Weapons, Scrolls and Potions of everything (Especially if they have a wizard or alchemist), a horse and cart to move every single piece of equipment from the gear lists, masterwork armour, it gets worse and worse.

Not as bad as the time the alchemist took rich parents made a dozen potions of various spells and refused to share.

what a waste of a feat!!
Really you need such a feat to make connections?
what happens to gms now? they are now a penny pinchers?
feat to make connections, feat to talk with people. That feat must be A.- Diplomacy based check and the gm must play the role of the black market or just roll like a performance check. it is realy silly put such a feat in the game.
