Being known is definitely a disadvantage right now.

I imagine YOU suffered more than many of your mates for the same reason.

I did seem to draw focus fire more often than others. Part of that might be because of my aggressive use of wand attacks, including Wyrmling Breath to hit several enemies (and with practice, few allies), and using Frost Ray to call targets (tracers work both ways).

Yeah your choice of attacks made you easy to spot that's for sure. But it is prob more of a name recognition thing. No one needs to ask Who is Decius or who is Phyllain so the DPS comes in right away.

It helped that you had that distinctive mohawk. Xanthas (sp?) was also pretty easy to spot, and a pretty high-priority target.

When I stop picking the garishest color choices, I might be a little less targeted.

I still got way more (player killer/group size) than I got equipment damage.
