I might, with heavy emphasis, MIGHT be able to run a Kingmaker game. I'd honestly prefer to play a game, but running one, I might be able to do. My schedule seems to be slowing down a bit, hopefully, I'd have the time...
If I did, it may be something like this:
Rushing to the surface, you join the growing rally of kobolds as they cautiously creep above ground, steadily growing in numbers as they confirm it is safe to do so. Soon, you stand as one of many small reptilians surrounding a feeble looking human woman. She looks about with fear as her outnumbered situation grows larger. Finally, Varkinosk toddles to the mouth of the warren, scratching his wrinkled snout as he studies the softskin.
Finally, he speaks, elegant for his age and in a language you presume is one the human speaks, judging by he answer. You have some trouble understanding. After several exchanges, the female clasps her hands together, clumsily lowering to her knee and appearing to plead with Varkinosk. He scratches under his jawline, before issuing a guttural grunt and hobbling around slowly to address the tribe. "The softskin claims that her warren is in dire need!" The collective, whispering yapping cuts off the old kobold, who hushes it with a raise of his claw. "The outcasts of the forest - these bandits - threaten to burn her tribal home and kill her clutch." Several angered voices begin to yap angrily at the mention of the bandits - for so long have they been a nuisance to your carefully laid traps, that they have earned your tribe's ire.
Varkinosk stamped the ground with his gnarled root staff, demanding silence once more. He quickly gets it. "The softskins have implored the other warrens of Brevoy for aid... and have only received silence. Like a dragon demanding much of his tribe, and then abandoning them to a grim fate!" More yappy mumbles ensue around you. "The other elders would see her cast off! Let them burn the warren, take as they please! It is not our concern what becomes of the softskins!" A few kobolds around you give a quick bark of approval at the action, growing quiet again as Varkinosk speaks. "...but I do not agree with them! For too long have the lands of our ancestors been trampled on! These bandits seek to take that which is ours by blood and right - we thrived here long before them, and we shall succeed them long after! We are Truescales! The time has come, my brethren, for us to no longer hide! To fear to tread the land that is rightfully ours! With this, we can begin to build a proper home for our kind! For once, it is not the bigger races, but WE who shall command respect!"
The yapping steadily grows louder, spurred on by Varkinosk's words, though not all seem convinced of such action. The elderly kobold stamps his root staff into the ground once more, expression grim, but determined. "I know, I ask much. It is not our way to aid the softer races... but do our dragon masters not aid our tribes? Do they not benefit greatly from our service, and reward our loyalty and devotion? ...I will not ask our tribe to dedicate itself wholly to this task. I myself will answer the softskin's call. I merely wish to know... are any others brave enough, strong enough, wise enough, to take on the tasks of a true dragon?"
The whole tribe goes quiet, your eyes wander around to the hesitant expressions of kobolds about you. Varkinosk looks about, before bowing his head. You aren't sure what compels you to do so, but you find yourself raising your claw in the air, as you notice a few others do so as well.
"I will answer the call of the dragon!"

For some reason I think a mix of kingmaker and skull & shackles would just be epic. Rise of the Kobold Nation with a climax of war against Aashaq the Annihilator to destroy that evil and threat to the shackles forever. Not to mention taking over her islands would be great, story wise and quest wise. Plenty of hooks from low level to mid level and the red dragon and her islands take care of high level in a hurry.
Just something that sounds great and fun to me. x)

I am sorry about the time limit, but I had no idea I would actually get so many submissions so fast. The thread took off faster than the other active WotR recruitment thread, and has over twice as many posts. My assumption was that maybe recruitment might end a couple days early at most. I guess I was horribly wrong about interest levels.

I prefer kobolds over goblins. Goblins are fun, but ironically, kinda limited due to how insane they are. Which means you're likely to play a very chaotic character. Nothing wrong with that (nor is it always the case), but it lacks versatility.
Kobolds, however, can be all over the map in terms of what behavior they exhibit. You can have the law loving, orderly types, the rogue, chaotic little outcasts, those who try to emulate their paragon dragon cousins, those who scheme, plot and connive.
Like I said, not all goblins have to be chaotic. But kobolds are true underdogs, both in fluff and mechanics. Goblins at least have the mechanics to back them up. If you play a kobold, you have something to prove... and prove it you will! It is the kobold way!

Or, put another way... goblins are great at short little one-night adventures, but kobolds are superior for months-long campaigns.
That is a far better way of putting it. Much more concise. Thank you. n_n
With a little modification Zoot Soot the Divine Hunter Paladin will be ready to suit any game.. ;o)
He'd best be rocking vertical stripes, wide shoulders, thin waist, and womanizing in the most jive way possible. Potentially singing in scat.
And now I am picturing a kobold mafia.

That's actually a genius idea. XD Everyone questions what use +2 in Profession (Miner) could have... and then you realize you can dig so many holes right under your targets.
"Bonasera... bonasera... what have we ever done to make you treat us so disrespectfully? ...if you had come to us with peace and tolerance, the tunnels that threaten to sink your castle would not be there."
