Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we actually have two culls one year? Some of this discussion is revolving around speculation about the effects of multiple small culls, but I think that's something that's already happened once before. Hard data about multiple small culls might already exist somewhere.
I think there was talk about a 2nd cull the first year of public voting but I don't think it actually happened. They were considering it is all.
I know there was only one last year and this year so it would of had to be the first year of public voting if there was ever 2 in a year
I still haven't figured out how you all are seeing what items were narrowed down... what is this so-called "cull?"
There was a community-created, crowd-sourced spreadsheet developed, originally posted in the List of Items thread. A group of active and dedicated voters started noting items as they appeared. After the cull took place and the lower 55% of the spectrum was removed from voting, the voters went back to noting items, and, all told, saw 352 items that had survived the cull.
Due to the way voting works, we ASSUME that any item not seen on the post-cull list has been culled, but there is a slim mathematical possibility that an item survived the cull, and yet never appeared in a seen pairing, post-cull, to the voters who were actively compiling the list.
