Are there any archtyps that give eldions to non summoners. One of my players was thining of playing something like a ranger with a Eldion as his pet. He is willing to be very flexible and is even willing to give up his spells or play another melee type class but does not like the summoner being so magic focues.

Being a summoner is the only way I know of.
If you are willing to use third party archetypes, the ones like black snake and weapons champion at the bottom remove spells in exchange for more martial prowess.
This character is an example of such. He uses two archetypes. Blood god disciple removes the summon monster spell like ability for buffs to the eidolon and summoner. Then Blacksnake removes spells and gives him whip attacks.
All of this is on the d20pfsrd.

You mean eidolon? Summoners have d8 hit die, medium bab and proficient with light armor. You can make melee summoners even terrifying ones (Synthesist summoners) , someone even made a guide about alternate playstyle for different kind of summoners but well...anyway let see:
Anyway as a ranger if he just want to stick to ranger, the feat evolved companion can be taken multiple times and add evolution to his animal companion.

At present an eidolon is a summoner-only class feature.
The closest you can come with a non-summoner is the Primal Companion Hunter archetype of the Hunter class in the Advanced Class Guide. This archetype allows you to give your animal companion an alternate form (comprising the evolution points granted to the eidolon of a summoner of your hunter level) for one minute per hunter level.
