Shadow Mastiff ninja. I may not have thumbs, but at least I have some capacity to manipulate my environment. I could be wrong, but I think I'd be able to put more ninja abilities to use as a shadow mastiff as opposed to various paladin abilities I couldn't use as an armless ball of light.
Would you rather try to take and liquidate 10,000 gp worth of copper pieces, or priceless fragile works of art?
snickersimba |
Paizo, because I think they are awesome.
Would you rather prank the crap out of amiri for a year or prank the crap out of imjika for a year?
Pranks may or may not involve turning the symbol of pharasma into urgotha, dying all clothes in very femme colors, turning favored weapons into frilly pink messes and bows. ALL THE BOWS, dear god. This may also include a surprise bath.

I would prank both and make it look like the other did it.
Would you rather play a wildshaping druid that changes into a huge dinosaur in a campaign where many of the buildings and caves are too small for a 15ft tall dinosaur to fit inside, or a barbarian in a campaign where you fight on the open plains a lot and enemies start several hundred feet from where you are standing?
John Kretzer |
The druid because there are other options besides big dinosaurs.
Would you rather play in a game where the GM strictly enforces the limit on character gen and follows a very story line campaign or play with a GM who works with the players to make their character concept works and runs a campaign that is based on what the PCs do.
PathlessBeth |
The latter, because the former can be accomplished more easily in CRPGs. And those are cheaper, more widely available, and have stories written by professional writers. The latter is essentially unique to TTRPGs.
Would you rather play a tarrasque in a campaign with icehawk333 as the BBEG, or play a behemoth (bestiary 3) in a campaign in which Gorbacz was the BBEG?
Tacticslion |
Tarrasque. I know from the boards that I can't die no matter what, and icehawk333 is only a level 1 scholar.
As an aside:

This has been answered already, so I just wanted to put my own spin on this: I don't actually think these are as problematic as they might seem on the surface. With the druid either Wildshape into something else, or, if not available (he can only shift into a dinosaur), cast your amazing spells! With the barbarian, POUNCE! ... or loose your arrows! I'd still prefer the druid, mind, but that's just because I want the power to heal wounds and raise the dead, no matter what that power looks like (so long as it's not evil!)!
Would you rather play a game with very little wealth and downtime or with extra wealth and downtime?
(You decide the parameters of the game, if it's single player, three-to-five player, or six-player plus; if it's short one-off or long campaign; etc.)

Level one elf. Lives his life with a high preform check. In a few hindered years, he's middle age, and richer then most level 15 PC's. Preform checks, man. Op in a few hindered years.
Would you rather be a giant spider thst could talk or an anthro bunny that couldn't.
Tacticslion |
And yet, so easily, easily stolen by level three bandits...
EDIT: Giant spider that could talk. I'd be hideous, sure, but then I could learn spells and polymorph myself into something else without worrying about needless feat investment. I'd eventually get PaO, and become whatever I want forever (with 8th level spell, instead of 6th).
Would you rather have an intelligent (mute) carpet of flying (5-by-10), or a efreeti bottle?
Tacticslion |
But... but... but they were both from Aladdin...
If I absolutely had to, a devil for bypassing the lemure stage, unless the demon allowed me instant apotheosis into succubus with my memories intact (I'd also settle for incubus), at which point I'd immediately leave to go serve under Nocticula, and use that realm to find a way to the heavenly places for redemption. If neither of those are options, the devil, because at least that way I'd be guaranteed to get something out of it.
Would you rather play an elf, a drow, a noble drow, or an aasimar (or tiefling) who had one of those as the "base" creatures (and which)?
((This is all about the long lives, guys.))
Tacticslion |
Foul! Point of order: that was not a "rather" question! ;P
Clothing. Anything else would be too awkward.
Presuming clothing was covered, masterwork mithril piecemeal armor that maximizes my dexterity bonus.
The other question was about which of those creature kinds would you like to play as. All have really long lifespans, and slightly different racial traits and bonuses, generally themed around the elven "look", save that drow have the obsidian skin and pale hair.
Would you rather be a dwarf or an orc?

Rovagug. I'd love to spend all day making monsters to eat you mortal types! Plus, he might be a Great Old One... Neat.
Would you rather play a Murderhobo Evil character infiltrating a party of Good adventurers; OR a Good character infiltrating a party of Murderhobos Evil adventurers. Assume you're trying to subtly take down or undermine the group.
Lord Foul II |
Asmodious, because taking the place of the first god (well the first of those still around) sounds very boss
Edit: ninjaed
If I could play as cunning evil instead of murder hobo evil, I'd go with evil in a party of good,
Which class would you rather start as if you got trapped in a death game sortof like a pathfinderized Sword Art Online
(Eg defeat 100 dungeons worth of boss monsters to get out, if you die in the game you die IRl, me personally I'd go oracle or paladin)
snickersimba |
None, because sword art online is some form of anime, and I do not allow players to bring anime to my gaming tables, or manga, or video game based characters.
They do not exist to me. They will be ignored at all times until they are not there.
Would you rather be a half elf with the discipline of abomination from occult adventures and have to deal with not murdering everyone in the room every few minutes, or be a demonblooded tiefling born into a church of iomeadians?
Tacticslion |

Foul! Again! This fails the nature of this game/exercise! ;P

I'd go with one of the super-wealthy classes (probably long-lived, probably an arcane caster) and pay for hordes of allies and assistants to go through the dungeons with me. The most likely is something along the lines of a wizard, really. It'd let me adventure the most safely. If I could choose a mythic character, however, it'd be rogue with the minor arcana talent and the archmage path (dual-pathed to heirophant), for reasons I mentioned above.

The latter. I'd totes be lawful good, and a paladin (or maybe an oracle). It'd be awesome. (Also, I don't know what the discipline of abomination is, so...)
EDIT: Accidental foul on myself! I didn't write a question!
Would you rather be a sorcerer or an oracle?
snickersimba |

oracle, because then I have a reason to do stupid stuff.
Especially if I take the shattered psyche curse and the winter mystery, then I am allowed to go about and freeze people and drool all over myself.
Also, I don't have to wear pants anymore because I am technically crazy.
*demonstrates by throwing a light brown snowball at taticslions head, made from peanut butter, slobber and magic snow*
Lord Foul II |
Here let me get it back on track
Would you rather thirty percent of the world have the powers of a random third level class with yourself havering 8 levels or you have 3 and no one else has any.
Also not sure if it would be a foul to not answer a question already answered, so
I'd go with oracle because healing is important, and either one can be crazy if you want them to be.
Tacticslion |

Thirty and eight. It's far, far better to increase the world as a whole (although, depending on that thirty... hmph...).
Would you rather RPGs become exceedingly popular and mainstream, but Pathfinder changes significantly to a new system, or Pathfinder to never change as RPGs (as an industry) quietly dies out?
I'm not trying to take a political stance with this question; it's totally hypothetical.
EDIT:
Also not sure if it would be a foul to not answer a question already answered, so
As far as I can tell, it's not a "foul", despite your name, sir! As far as the "fouls" go, it's mostly a mild humor, not in any sort of accusatory mein. The actual rules are:
For the fun of it, let's play a game. First person offers up an "Would you Rather X or Y?" question. The next person answers the first person, then proceeds to ask their own question.
... which are pretty vague. However if you don't ask a "Would you rather" type question, or you don't ask your own question, you'd be running afoul of those two rules. Hence, the "fouls" called. Anything else, from what I can tell, is acceptable (including, but not limited to: asking multiple questions, asking for clarification, or answering other questions previously asked).

8 levels and 3 for everyone else, because it would be better for the world overall.
Would you rather have to "sell me on" fouls in a 'would you rather: pathfinder edition' game (in a separate 'sell me on' thread), or be hit by snickersimba's light brown snowball made from peanut butter, slobber, and magic snow (no dodging, not even if you are mythic)?
EDIT: I was ninja'd apparently, and answered the question two posts ago. So FOUL ON ME!

The first one, I just finished a fun game of advanced dungeons and dragons over Skype with some college friends
Just because the edition changes doesn't mean that you have to change with it
And besides, change is sometimes good!
Would you rather put on an amulet of strangulation or a helm of opposite alignment?
Edit because of ninjas: the first one, I'm very charismatic
I can sell people on anything (provided I have incentive to and I care about the subject)
Tacticslion |
Also: sometimes misses and ninja's happen, like in the case of 137ben and I above.
137ben: Depends on the definition of "have to" - using the colloquial, I'd give it the good old college try, and move on.
Lord Foul II: Hm... I'd first check to see whether or not I was evil; if I was, I'd go for the helm, and if I wasn't I'd become an undead (probably a super-well-preserved juju zombie) and put on the amulet of strangulation.
Would you rather have an awakened horse or an awakened dog?
Lord Foul II |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Awakened dog
Treat dogs right and they will love you forever, a smart horse probably wouldn't appriciate being ridden, it would just be awkward for everybody.
And most undead turn evil in the creation of them from what I've come to understand
Would you rather run naked through the city of brass or the world wound
Tacticslion |
And most undead turn evil in the creation of them from what I've come to understand
Not with the original Juju oracle, and, by technicality, I'd keep my original sentience and personality. But I'd totally take the helm if I became evil.
Would you rather run naked through the city of brass or the world wound
City of brass. I'd become a slave quickly, but I wouldn't be tortured into becoming a demon, and some slaves are treated quite well.
QUASI-EDIT: regular horse. Dire wolf is cool, but vicious; as a father, I'd prefer to keep horses to dire wolves.
Would you rather be an aquatic creature, or a fire-touched creature?
ZevVeli |
IS fire touched the one that doesn't burn to death in non-magical fires? I'll go with that one, so I can set myself on fire and run into battle.
Play game where any published OGL books are allowed (modified to fit the setting, i.e. if you take levels from star wars d20 you wouldn't get W.P. lightsabers or blasters) or play in a gestalt game.

a kazoo, because I can actually play that.
Would you rather wake up to find you were in the midst of a cross speices lamatshu orgy last night, or wake up to find you are now property of a group of randy trogolytes?
Um...Wake up in the midst of a lamashtu orgy...hopefully I can block it...and escape.
Would you rather be trapped in a empty room with a bored kender or fight the combines hordes of the lower planes with nothing but a spoon. ( My answer...bring on the hordes ;) )
Tacticslion |
TOUR OF THE ABYSS. THERE ARE NICE PLACES THERE.
Would you rather play a game as government officials who have to hire and manage rowdy adventurers as you send them on quests to avoid the destruction of your <village/town/castle/country/etc.>, or a politically powerful genie who must manipulate and move politically through treachery, honor, love, and elemental courts while being summoned and bound (mostly for wishes) by adventurers trying, yet again, to avoid the destruction of their <village/town/castle/country/etc.>?
BONUS QUESTIONS: Which of the two would you rather GM? Which of the two would you rather live? Would you rather play or GM one of these?
ZevVeli |
I'd rather do the genie, more room for fun things to be done to the hapless adventurers.
Would you rather generate you character's statistics by 4d6 re-rolling 1's and 2's and keeping the highest 3 until you have your six stats
-or-
roll 4d6 keeping the highest three, re-rolling anything below a ten, and doing this 36 times arranging as rolled into a 6x6 gri, then selecting either a row or column to assign to your stats.

a camp being podcast, because I can't sit through much, though my speakers are malfunctioning and have a tendancy to subtly, but noticably change in volume, produce a loud, grating buzzing sound that literally can only be fixed by smacking them hard enough and requiring me to hold the earbud cord a certain way.
Would you rather be a wizards familiar or an edilion
Zaboom! |
Monk to Paladin. Monks have a lot of limitations (no armor, only use these weapons, etc.), it would feel like I was gaining more options this way and losing options the other way.
Uh-oh! That enemy Cleric just cast Greater Forbid Action on your whole party, and everyone failed the save! Would you rather the Cleric choose Attack or Draw?
Zaboom! |
Draw. I then use entagle and grease on him. Sucks for him!
Only if you had your holy symbol out for Entangle, and eschew materials to avoid needing components for Grease! I've always thought Draw was the most prohibitive action for that spell.
Would you rather be targeted by a polymorph effect, or a mind-affecting effect?
Polymorph. I'd rather keep my mind intact.
Would you rather have an intelligent discussion with a Cleric of Calistria; OR sexytimes with a Cleric of Irori?

Who wouldn't have eschew materials? Besides, my holy symbol is tattooed on my hand!
Tacticslion wrote:Would you rather be targeted by a polymorph effect, or a mind-affecting effect?Polymorph. I'd rather keep my mind intact.
A-hah! You fell for the trap! I didn't say what kind of "mind-affecting effect" it was, or what kind of polymorph! Baleful Polymorph does not leave your mind intact, while greater heroism does!
Would you rather have an intelligent discussion with a Cleric of Calistria; OR sexytimes with a Cleric of Irori?
An intelligent discussion with a cleric of Calistria. Temptation may exist due to the nature of the cleric and whatever topics she's intellectually capable of (and she may well be a better arguer than I over our differences), but I'd enjoy the discussion. Also, I'm married and my wife isn't a cleric of Irori (which may well be quite sexy), hence avoiding that... whole... thing. :)
Would you rather be an extremely wealthy NPC-classed character (receiving 400% WBL on average) with all of the crafting feats as free bonus feats, or an extremely poor PC-classed character (receiving 20% WLB on average)?
snickersimba |
Be restricted to core, I want to play through core with every race and class atleast once.
Mostly to see all of the feat combinations and what wacky stuff already exists in the CRB
Would you rather find all of your pathfinder collection totally ruined by hyper puppies or find out that pathfinder books are now 96458% the price they were eight seconds ago?
Trigger Loaded |
The second. There's only a few books I really want, and there's always the SRD for those I Don't if they suddenly become unaffordable. Plus, if that was the case, the resale value, even for my most worn books, would probably shoot up considerably. And Hyper Puppies probably won't limit themselves to JUST my books.
Would you rather game with a GM who doesn't know the rules and constantly has to look them up, or a GM who doesn't bother following the rules and just makes up results? (Usually against the PCs)
