Well, I stayed up past 2AM last night reading the PDF of Fires of Creation on my laptop.
It has pretty much every single element of the first D&D module I ever bought: AD&D Module S3: Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, but with a more compelling plot, amazing NPCs, and ties back to the regular campaign world.
Fires of Creation had this fortysomething guy squealing in glee like the 13-year-old he had been when reading Expedition to the Barrier Peaks for the first time in 1982.
Vegepygmies living in a hydroponics lab? Check.
Alien habitat dome? Check.
Deranged medical robots in a sick bay/torture chamber? Check.
Stange and deadly alien monsters roaming around? Check.
Stange and deadly alient plants? Check.
Table of random effects of pushing buttons? Check.
I'm sure there are more Barrier Peaks easter eggs that I missed.
Thanks for letting me re-live my childhood!
I am so looking forward to running this AP after my current campaign winds down.

It's more accurate to say that Iron Gods as a whole is a spiritual successor to Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, frankly... that adventure was one of my favorites, and it was the primary inspiration throughout the outlining of the entire campaign.
Will we be able to get our hot little hands on it at GenCon? *pant, pant, drool...*

I just wanted to add that I was definitely sitting up in bed and telling my wife, "Oh Man! Vegepygmies! Color Coded Cards! This is awesome!"
She never played Barrier Peaks, so she just said, "That's nice, Dear." then rolled over and went back to sleep!
Basically, I am LOVING this Adventure Path! It does take me back, in the best possible way!
Can't wait for the next five ... but I gotta!
Thanks, James and Team!

I'll add my voice to this. Its the first thing I thought when it was announced. In fact when I read it I was mostly done converting Expedition to the Barrier Peaks to the 5e preview rules to get it ready to run as my first campaign when 5e came out.
Its one of my favourite modules and i still have the original at home sealed away. I have converted and played it in every edition of the game so far. Though for 5e I decided to switch to Iron Lords for my Barrier Peaks fix and play through.
Thanks Paizo!
