Improved Snap Shot and Acrobatics checks

Rules Questions

This is probably a really easy one to answer, but I want to check the facts. I have an acrobatically able character who uses thrown weapons and has improved snap shot to threaten out to 15' with thrown weapons.

SCENARIO: My character is fighting a medium sized opponent. I utilize 5 foot steps to cast without provoking but my enemy 5 foot steps on his turn to hit me. Can I use acrobatics to do more than a 5 foot step backwards without provoking attacks, keeping him within 15' of me (my threatened range) so that when he approaches to hit me he provokes attacks from me?

I'm pretty sure this is allowed and works as described above but want to be sure.

You can not use acrobatics to step more then 5 ft.

You CAN use acrobatics to MOVE back more then 5' so that he will provoke closing with you, but then you would only have a standard action left rather then a full attack action.

Oh...that's a good point. Anything more that a 5 foot step is a move action preventing a full attack. Thank you.

And he is referring to using Acrobatics to tumble.

Each square you tumble through costs double, but that should only be when you are moving out of a threatened square.

The DC is equal to the CMD of the enemy you are trying not to provoke from. You make a single Acrobatics roll, IIRC. If you are tumbling away from multiple opponents, you can choose the order the roll is checked against them. The reason that is important is as follows:
First opponent DC = CMD
Second opponent DC = CMD +2
Third opponent DC = CMD +4
.
.
.
So, if you choose the order correctly, you can finagle the numbers so you don't have to deal with the highest base CMD with the highest modifier.

So, in the case you mentyione,d where it appears you hjave a single enemy, and can move away from him, only risking provoking in a single square, you would only need to check your roll against his CMD, and it wouild cost 20' of movement, assuming no difficult terrain, to wind up 15' away from him, so he has to move to get to you.
