Naah, I know that Sharoth dude. It's "lack". He's always had something against it. Some unreasoning hatred rearing up from the labyrinthine depths of his soul, waiting to pounce on the unsuspecting object of his derision with a rage born in the deepest pits of Hell.
I'm proud of his rage against the word "lack", but it would be better put to use against the forces of Alton Brown.

I got a lot done yesterday: Four hours of work, Toys R Us to get some birthday presents, Barnes and Noble to pick up two new books, comic book store, lunch with the wife at Wacky Mongolian, trip to the brew store to pick up a new auto-siphon and ingredients for a barleywine style ale, home for a bit, then stops at the cleaners and the orthopedic office before picking up the kidlets.

Yesterday at the store, I picked up a bottle of Dogfish Head's latest ancient ale - Kvasir. It was brewed with cooperation from a Swedish Brewery and a biomolecular archaeologist. Brewed with lingonberry, cranberry, birch syrup, honey, cranberry juice and herbs. A surprisingly mild 10% ABV, with a good kick.
Definitely something to try again.

I did a little brewing yesterday. It had been awhile. As always, I enjoyed it, but it took way longer than I anticipated.
The biggest factor, time wise, was getting the wort cooled down. I ended up having to stick the entire fermenter in the freezer for about 20 minutes.
But I already have a potential solution for the next brew. When the boil is done, you typically let the wort cool a bit before adding cold water. That was part of my problem last night, I only added cool water from the tap. Next time, I'm gonna fill a couple of gallon jugs from the tap, then stick them in the freezer to get them very cold (just not frozen). That should help a lot.

Incidentally, the beer I made was a clone of Young's Old Nick Barleywine style ale. I had to make some adjustments to the recipe, based on availability, but it should come out pretty well.
One thing though, the recipe recommends letting it sit for about 5 months after bottling, just to age properly.

Will seek this out.
Dogfish Head. May have to go to Whole Foods for that.
I am planning to pick up a mix of guiness either this weekend or next. Want to get the glasses for guiness too.

Any decent beer store in the northeast should carry Dogfish Head, as they are based out of Delaware. Then again, you are in New York......

Heh, see I'm exactly the opposite. As long as it's warm, I'm happy, but I prefer it overcast. Mostly because bright light bothers me.

Dogfish Head is a quirky beer that can be hard to find. It only shows up in frou frou hoods.

And this is how I know you live in a really messed up city. One of the best craft breweries in the country, and you can only find it in "frou frou hoods"? That's sad.

So, Arizona? =)

to be honest, I have only relatively recently gotten into beer. Maybe I need to look around more.
