Skull and Shackles Box insert for Sleeves?

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

So I have been constructing a box insert for my RotR box so I can sleeve all the cards, I find that there is a bit too much wear on the cards being regularly used.

My hope here is that the Skull and shackles box layout will account for this. I don't think the box needs space for the smaller boxes, especially because once added they just sit empty until you begin removing cards half way through. It would make a lot more sense to redesign it with slots for the adventure decks (without the boxes) and create enough space to sleeve the cards. At least it would make myself and many others pretty happy about it.

My suspicion is that the box insert for Skull and Shackles will be nearly the same as the one for Rise of the Runelords (except having a space of ship cards).

A while ago, Vic gave this cryptic bit of info. I believe he was referring to the at-the-time-not-yet-announced Adventure Case from Ultra Pro.

For RotR, I constructed a foam board insert as well. My calculations are here in case they might help you. I also purchased this one. I have been quite happy with it.

Looking forward to see what Ultra Pro comes up with too, as I'd like to preserve the box in its original condition.

That's a pity, a better designed insert could solve all those problems.

Yeah! I have been using your calculations already in fact. But I did look at that box organizer quite a bit, its been worthwhile for you?

It has. Though I liked the sense of accomplishment making my own gave me, the one I purchased is fantastic. I'd estimate that all the time I put into trying to make my own would make the $27 price totally worth it.

Here is a picture of the whole entire adventure path sleeved with Ultra Pro deck protectors in the insert. I also bought 11 of their adventure stands, which are what you can see in the right column. I've got a sharpie pen in there, cut out standees near the back (though I just redid those recently to make them all a bit smaller to fit the box better). There are like 6 sets of dice in the back left corner. And some cards I've made up myself in the back right.

And here is a post with pics from when i first got it.

I purchased the insert as well, and it works very well.

I plan to get another for Skull & Shackles.

My 'insert' cost me $0.00. I wish I had a picture of this, but I have never taken one to show people, but I can tell you the basics of what I did. So, I use Dragon Shield sleeves. I have said this a few times on the forums. These types of sleeves come in a cardboard box. So I am just recycling these, since I am already buying the card sleeve. So, to the main construction part. If you remove the plastic insert, there are cardboard slats underneath that help hold the insert in place. I removed these and threw the insert away. With the slats, I created 4 lanes for the cards. I used the cardboard boxes from the sleeves to form the dividers between the boons, and to give each lane something to hold it in place. There is a little extra room left over on one of the sides, so I placed a couple of the expansion boxes, the character expansion and the 1st adventure ones work well if you are starting a new box. This holds it all together.

Also, the sleeve boxes are super helpful, since you can put the cards you are not using in them until you get to the adventure number that requires them.

If this is confusing, let me know, and I will try to clarify.

All that is correct.

Alas. well Okay.. Hawkmoon I was able to construct an insert like your instructions which was pretty awesome. But a fair amount of work, guess I will just purchase one for S&S then.

My FLGS sells a variety of sizes of white cardboard boxes for folks that play Magic and other collectable card games. One of the boxes has two "rows" for cards, and is about shoebox-sized. It is the perfect size to hold the entire game with all expansions, sleeved, plus and handful of index cards cut down to create dividers. It cost me only $3 or $4, I think.

Admittedly, there's no room for the dice (well, there is, but that's because I set them on top of some of the cards when putting the game away). And there's definitely not room for the main rulebook without folding it, which I can't bring myself to do.

And when the Character decks come out, I'll need to figure out a separate storage solution for them.

But for the price, it's a real bargain, and it works beautifully.

The Exchange

If i recall, there was a thread on bgg that showed 660 ct card boxes with the tops cut off fitting exactly 3 wide in the game box, you might take the box down to the store and test fit to make sure you have the right size, but that might be one cheapish way to meet your needs (under 5 bucks i reckon).

Scarab Sages

I myself use one 660-ct box and two 550-ct boxes. It fits all cards, sleeved, pretty perfectly, with just enough room for thick cardboard dividers and six sets of Chessex dice in the box, too.
