Hey guys,
I apologize in advance, but I will have to step down for a while from my activities here in the Paizo forums. It will be at least some good months before I can come back.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience. I hope your games continue fun!
Regards,
adsapiens / Archlich
I'm sorry to hear that! Good luck, Lettu!

I've been here before with drops, very hard on those remaining. Not played Dragons Demand though.
What is the current party? I'll make something up that is appropriate.
Ohh, a goblin, as this is non PFS, could I make a goblin up?
(obviously that wouldn't work if you are busy killing goblins as the main point or there is a goblin hater).

I'd like to join. Where are the character generation rules for this game? You mentioned non-pfs characters so are you following society rules or can you create a character that is typically not allowed such as,oh, say, a monster tactician or herald caller. I just got this nice Monster Summoner Handbook just to find out that Paizo nixed all the nice summoner archetypes.

![]() |

I prefer sticking with the PFS rules as I don't have the time to go through the character creations. But if you want to use new archetypes or other races which are easy to learn for the GM, it's fine.
We are playing the non-PFS version of the module, but the characters are nevertheless members of the Pathfinder Society. We initially started this module with "copies" of real PFS Characters. If it is possible in any way, no evil aligned characters. If you can make a non-evil goblin, it's ok ;) Goblins are not even mentioned in this module.
The current party is: Bard 4/Swashbuckler 1, Fighter 4/Arcanist 1 (maybe this guy dropped as well, he's not answering to PNs), Oracle 5 and Wizard 5.

Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to go through the Unchained rules in detail. If you know what you are doing, you can use the fractional BAB thing.
Fractional BAB just means you round your BAB after adding the BAB from all your classes together, instead of round down per class.
But I decided I'd rather pay the feat cost than lose an Oracle level, so it's a moot point.
And good news on the Chronicle side, you may apply the Chronicle to a level 1 character with 3XP, 4PP and 1398 GP.
Sweet. Can it be a 2- or 3- xp character?

Very short version of the story so far:
The Pathfinders were hired to escort a merchant's caravan. Unfortunately the merchant was imprisoned in Belhaim and the Pathfinders stranded.
On their first day in town the Witchtower collapsed and the town's wizard, Hunkley, died in the collapse. Belhaim's major, Lady Origena, asked the Pathfinders to investigate the case since Belhaim's sheriff was out of town. That's what they did and they came to the conclusion that Kobolds who were living in the nearby quarry caused the collapse. The Pathfinders went to see the tribe's leader and to ask him to leave the quarry with his tribe. He refused so the Pathfinders defeated Rhogaz and the remaining members of the tribe finally left.
After the wizard's death his relatives asked Belhaim's major to auction off Hunclays belongings, but before that could happen, the Pathfinders were asked to 'clean' Hunclays manor from traps, unwanted guests and magic surprises.
During the auction suddenly a pack of grioth attacked the people attending the auction and an undead black dragon called Aeteperax talked to the townspeople. He asked for a huge amount of money or Belhaim is going to be destroyed. A meeting between the more important people of Belhaim and the Pathfinders took place and they decided to fight the dragon. But before that could be possible, Bassy, the local gnome, handed them a key to the Crypt of Tula, the family crypt of the dragonslaying woman who once defeated a dragon and founded the town of Belhaim. In this crypt the Pathfinders found Tula's famous sword, her breastplate and a mighty bow.
+3 breastplate of luck (as banded mail ofluck), +1 keen composite longbow (+2 Str) and Wyrmsmite (a +2 dragonbane transformative longsword)
Once the Pathfinders collected the stuff they entered the Monastery of Saint Kyerixus to face the dragon. That's where you are now....

More importantly, how are we to be introduced :)

@Al'Khain: You see the monastery grounds on the map. The monastery was abandoned by the monks long time ago. The handover of the ranson was supposed to happen in the monastery.
Gear left by the others:
Oil of Keen Edge x2
Potion of Undetectable Alignment
Potion of Protection From Acid
Potion of Protection From Fire
Flametongue
Ring of Protection +2
Ring of Strength Sapping
+1 Acid Resistance Light Steel Shield
Arrow of Dragon Slaying
+1 Bane(Dragon) Arrow x10
+3 Breastplate of Luck
+1 Keen Mighty [+2] Composite Longbow
Gold Circlet
+1 Glammered Full Plate
Amulet of Natural Armor +2
Felicitas carries Wyrmsmite.
@Bygone: look into the gameplay thread ;)
@Merisiel: no comment on that ;)

Al'Khain |

That's fine. You should also take the various dragon-killing arrows.
I'm interested in these items, in this order:
+3 Breastplate of Luck
Amulet of Natural Armor +2
Ring of Protection +2
Potion of Protection From Acid
But of course, that's far more than my fair share.
What is the gold circlet?

Bygone PBP |

I'm in the same boat. Bygonne traded away armor and shield proficiencies for summoning abilities. He's tempted to take the plate and live with the ACP. It's so cool. He does try it on and experiment with all the cool looks he can create.
I think Merisielle whould take the Potion of Undetectable Alignment

Bygone PBP |

Yes. Sooo much data to assemble in the tag line, but yes he is 5th. Consider it fixed.

![]() |

If us new folk get a shot at the loot, in order I'd be keen on
+2 amulet of natural armor
+2 ring of protection (and trade back a +1 ring of protection for someone else to use)

Bygone PBP |

Bygonne is not a meleeist. He will allow the ones that will be holding the hoards back the first opportunity on anything that would help their AC. He will take the nice gold circlet though, and cast detect magic on it.
spellcraft: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15 in case it is magical.

Looks like we're the only ones competing for these. So if we do round robin, based on our preferences, looks like the split should be:
Al'khain
+3 Breastplate of Luck
+2 Ring of Protection
Potion of Protection From Acid
Merisiel
+2 amulet of natural armor
... ?
Although that assumes I go *first*. If you pick first then you end up with the amulet and the ring.

Bygone PBP |

Since the breastplate is worth over 18K I think that Merisel should get the ring and amulet and turn in the +1 ring.

Are we waiting for something else to happen?

Al'Khain |

I know we are meeting the Dragon at this monastery, but I don't know when he is supposed to be here or what else we are doing here. I think I need a little more context.
I'm also waiting to see the loot resolved.
Aesebella, would you like the +1 Ring of Protection or would you like one of the other items that Merisiel claimed? She will be in the lines more often than you, most likely.

Could you please be a bit less impatient? Two people (of six) posted since my last update, what do you expect?!

Well, the dragon is not alone. While there might be more magic items hidden in the unexplored parts of the monastery, there are also the dragon's minions and that means reinforcement for the dragon.
Felicitas knows about the druid who helps you in your cause, but is officially one of the dragon's minions (the dragon kidnapped his wife). To summon him you have to throw dry leaves into the reflecting pool (marked on the map).
I'm also waiting to see the loot resolved.
If you can't come up with a solution, I'll roll a die ;)

I think you got the wrong impression. I've seen a lot of games stall because the GM was waiting for something specific to happen before moving on to the next step and that person had no idea the GM was waiting for him or her. It's usually helpful to say something in cases like this. But I'll respect your wishes in this regard and leave it to you to ask the questions if needed.

The more I think about it, those items will be much more useful in you and Merisiel. I imagine something more useful to me will show up before the end. :)

Ah, I see, sorry. I thought you were complaining that I did not post an update yesterday. Ups.

Al'Khain |

To add to what Bygone said, it is usually a good idea to post once a day as a player, even if it is just an OOC post to clarify your last IC post or to state your assumptions as a player about what is happening or why you are not making another In Character post.
I think it is even more important for the GM to post daily, even if it is just a recap of what the players did. In combat people sometimes wait to post until they see the outcome of the other party members' actions.
