I periodically purge my RPG collection and have finally decided that Shadowrun can go. I've collected it since it came out but havent played in twenty something years. That led me to review a bunch of other games not really seeing any use anymore. If this is in the wrong forum, please move it wherever it should go (it didnt really fit with any specific game system).

If you're interested in any of the following, please send me a pm. If you dont have a need but are a member of an RPG club or something which could use them, then feel free to also pm me. I'll wait for a week or so (until Saturday 5th July) and then divide things out in some kind of cross between first come, first served and equitable distribution method.

The books available are as follows (conditions range from excellent to terrible. Most were bought new by me, some have clearly had several owners...)

Steve, thanks for doing this.

I've tried sending a PM but I can't seem to figure out how to do it. I'm interested in the Dark Sun stuff if it is still available.

Liberty's Edge

Interested in all Alternaty stuff pm when you can please.

I can PM when I get home from work. Posting from phone.

Click on Steve's name, and then click on the link that says "Send private message". It'll take you to the PM screen where you can enter your message. :)

Thanks! I figured out that I didn't have PM enabled on my end; that was what was stopping me. :)

I thought I'd post a note just to say I'm getting the pms and working through the list. Ill wait until next weekend before i get back to people individually. A couple of common queries:

1. Don't be shy/embarrassed about asking for several/lots of things. I'll divide stuff up as fairly as I can, if you've only asked for one thing and someone earlier has already asked for it, it's harder to give you anything. Some people have prioritised their requests, which is useful.

2. I am covering shipping (I have access to very cheap freight). From past experience, it can take a couple of months to get to the US, but everything arrived eventually last time. If you're in Australia, it will be quicker.

3. I should probably mention that Way of the Wicked had a lot of requests, so probably best to cross that off the list.

Cheers

Wow... that makes an already extremely generous offer into... something even more generous! Thank you!

That part is really from my friend/client who lets me use his business's freight account for a few beers.

Well, please make sure he knows how grateful we all are!

PM sent.

Kudos to you Steve. Way to share the RPG love :D

Steve, thank you for doing this.

PM sent. Steve, you are amazing for doing this, especially on this scale! I can only imagine the size of your RPG collection if this is what you are jettisoning!

Steve, you are a true gentleman.

I dont get much time to play anymore (plus we're pretty settled now in what we like - dont system jump as much as we used to). I still like reading RPG books, but I purge every few years.

I used to list everything cheap on Ebay, but I'm pretty sure online stores were buying them for $5 and then immediately relisting them for $20 or somesuch. Given the time, effort and hassle arguing about what exactly "used" means, lost packages, blah blah blah... I'd much rather they go direct to good homes.

PM sent. All hail Steve. :D

PM Sent. Thank you so much for this!

I hope Steve got my PM.

Liberty's Edge

Thank you Steve.

I've been a little swamped, to be frank (gamer talk obviously gets more traffic than other forums I've used in the past).

In fact, I'm going to close it off now even though its a week earlier than I said. I'm starting to get multiple people looking for exactly the same books (which makes it awkward). Unsurprisingly, the Pathfinder stuff in particular has been heavily "oversubscribed".

I'll pm everyone today, so if you don't hear back from me in twelve hours or so and think you should have - let me know. Hopefully I'll be able to find something for everyone who asked.

Aaand fired off a PM.

Seriously, totally cool you're doing this. IMO, this proves that old adage that 'gamers look out for each other' camaraderie that I haven't seen in a lot of my gaming lately. Was starting to lose hope on that regard, lol.

Okay, everyone who sent me a pm should now have received a reply. Please let me know if you were expecting a reply but didn't get one. Everything has pretty much been spoken for (not many people got everything they asked for, but hopefully everyone got something).

Once I get addresses and everything ill send the packages out later this week.

Thank you, Steve!!

;>_>.... Well don't I look like an ass. What I get for PMing after reading the first post and not the rest of the thread, didn't notice it was closed off a few hours before, lol.

The Exchange

Some of the Pathfinder stuff you are giving away is surprisingly recent (didn't Tears at Bitter Manor come out, like, yesterday?). Not a falling out with the world's most popular RPG, I hope?

Nah. I'm still a rabid paizo fanboy, I'm just a perfectionist - I tore my map a bit the first time, so I bought another copy. I also get new copies of the hardcovers when they're reprinted (for the errata) so the ultimate combat book is my old version.

The GM screen is brand new - I was lucky enough to get my hands on a second copy signed by the entire paizo staff. I'm not giving THAT one away! :)

This is my feel right now. Still though, thanks for being so awesome Steve.

Curses, missed my chance. :P

Still, this is a remarkably awesome thing to do. :)

This was me as I read through the thread. :(

Still super awesome that you did this, Steve.

Yeah, sorry. I'll phrase it differently next time. The OP is likely to lead you astray.
I was a little unprepared for the response.

It is very awesome you did this, and thank you again for doing it.

OMG I would love to have one of the Alternity CRBs if at all possible!

I've dropped off all the different packets and half have shipped, I believe. The rest will leave by Friday.

There are some weird things happening with regard to weights/sizes of packages and the allowable shipping methods. If you're in Australia, you should receive your books tomorrow (or Friday as by arrangement with one person). For those in the US or Europe, I'm afraid it's going to be very variable...

Some of the US packets can go airmail (its actually cheaper than sea mail, bizarrely) and will be there in six to twelve days. However, most of them are taking the slow boat. I'm afraid the best guidance i can offer is 14 - 90 days. So you should expect your books sometime between mid July and mid October (!) Enforced delayed gratification for some.

Awesome. Thanks a lot Steve. You are by far in the top 5 most awesome gaming people I know.

Ahh, too late then. This was an awesome thing to do though Steve. Kudos!

Thank you once again, Steve! It's like Christmas in July! (Or October...) :)

Scarab Sages

Gaaaah!

Missed it!

But I must give you praise for doing this, even if I don't personally benefit.

Indeed.
If anyone else runs across any Alternity or Stardrive stuff they don't want, PM me! If anyone knows a legal place to pay for it online, let me know that too!

EDIT: NM, just found PHB and Star Drive ampaign setting book for cheap on Amazon :P

Scarab Sages

There are some fan sites keeping the game alive; don't have the links here, though.

Legal places to buy pdfs online would be RPGNow, DrivethruRPG, etc.

Steve, is there any way to find out if one's package went by air or slow boat? Just trying to get a ballpark idea of when I should get excited...

Just be excited either way!

Hmm, not really I'm afraid (I didn't actually do the posting part - that was delegated to an apprentice). However, the number of airmail packages was pretty small - I think if you got more than one book, it will likely be seamail. Those getting just one book might be lucky, but it was apparently a cryptic function of size, weight and destination.

Thanks again Steve.

Fair enough -- I'll just assume it's coming by boat and if it gets here sooner than expected, it's Christmas come earlier! Thanks again for doing this!

Out of curiosity, what carrier did you use? I ask because I had a similar thing happen when a fellow in Canada bought some 7th Sea CCG cards I had. FedEx air was actually slightly cheaper than surface.

Well, I got my books last night.

I just wanted to post to thank Steve for a piece of stunning generousity.

Most of them went Australia Post - they have a 'printed matter' category which was usually the best, but had various size and weight restrictions (otherwise it had to go seamail). Occasionally, a package would fit within the dimensions of "letter", in which case it went airmail and cheaply.

Some of the bulkier packages went TNT I believe (though I wasnt actually there when they were posted).

Those to Australians all went Australia Post satchel, which means they should be arriving by today at the latest, apart from one going road freight that will arrive on Monday or Tuesday.

Woo! Big road freight package waiting for me when I got in to the office this morning.

Now to get some poor sucker to drop it home for me (no fitting this on the back of the bike), then the sorting and distributing to RPG groups can begin!

Again, many thanks Steve. It's like Christmas came early.

Glad to hear you got it okay. Your shipment was definitely not bike friendly. :p

Steve Geddes wrote:

Hah, yeah I don't think it'd have done my balance much good. I'm heavy enough for it as it is...

Just got home and unpacked it all. Man that is a lot of stuff... going to have to get it sorted and distributed to some groups asap so I can actually have use of my coffee and dining tables again :P Shouldn't be hard to find homes for it though.

EDIT: Also, I know you said Shadowrun wasn't that popular, but I was still surprised at just how much there is of it :P
