Welcome Scarab Sages

Scarab Sages

A giant, winged humanoid tries to hammer in one end of a banner into the masonry walls of the meeting hall. After a few taps, he hits his thumb, grumbles something in ancient osirioni, and simply presses the nail into the wall with his thumb. He repeats the process on the other side, letting the banner reveal

Welcome Scarab sages

a smaller sign beneath reads "Under new management"

He smiles and walks to a shadowy corner of the room, giving free access to the steaming plates of Ful Medames, Mulukhiya, and Feseekh. The latter has a vial of antitoxin next to it, just in case.

Scarab Sages

"Mmm, quite the delectable bounty of fine foods you have, especially the fresh Mulukhaiya! Still, I'm quite curious as to why our friends of the desert sands have taken upon this new moniker?"

Scarab Sages

Goliath's voice echos and resonates deep within his chest

I believe that the Ruby Prince no longer wished to be associated with us, so we have found another patron who shares our goal. They felt that the focus of the organization in its pursuit of knowledge for its own sake without using it was as pointless as a hoard of coins is to a dragon, and wishes us to not to merely gather but also spread such knowledge to all of the worlds rulers

Scarab Sages

Honestly, the goals of the Sages work much closer to my own. Much easier to be a guardian of magic when there's a group more willing to take to the task. Spreading knowledge is fine and all, but you have to know where there are some magics that are a bit too dangerous for general distribution.

As to our leadership, I know not yet who was in charge. I know I voted for who I knew better, not necessarily the most powerful.

Scarab Sages

Although politics will always remain, unfettered, we will excel.

Better a diamond with a flaw than a pebble without.

Scarab Sages

Quite an agreeable goal, and a welcome change as well I must say. Though I hail originally from Taldor in birth and blood, I've always believed that both knowledge and wisdom must be shared hand in hand for the benefit of all. Such I've found agreeable with the teachings of the Osirions, and I hope this new focus will bring forth those like myself who wish to walk the way of truth and knowledge, for such stories are born of our own love.

Grand Lodge

*Looks around, an unpleasant expression on her face, before spying the welcome table.*

"Hmmm...."

*Walks over, inscribes several glyphs of warding around the hors d'oeuvre table, as well as a few blast glyphs for good measure, then walks out.*

Hi, I had my first game June 16th, signed up here back in May. Was told scarab Sages maybe no longer take applications. however I earned my first game and faction points in Scarab Sages. Does this mean I have to pick new faction and if so what happens to faction points earned? HElP

The Concordance

I did get awarded faction points in Scrarab Sages. Not sure if just my local or because of new edition. But is this faction still operating? And do they do point transfers if need to switch faction because no longer used in organized play?

As of August 2, 2018, the Scarab Sages faction became inactive, but was not retired. That means that characters who were members of the faction (with at least 1 earned XP) before that date can retain their membership, and may continue to acquire benefits related to the faction. Characters who started play after that date cannot choose Scarab Sages as their faction.

In your case, it wasn't a legal faction choice for your character, but whoever reported the scenario probably didn't realize that. You'll need to choose a new, legal faction the next time you play. You won't lose the Prestige or Fame that you earned for that first scenario; those points will count toward your total Prestige and Fame going forward with whatever new legal faction you choose. (Changing factions normally costs prestige, but you made an honest mistake and seem to be making a good faith effort to correct it. And anyway, you're free to change anything about your character--including faction--between adventures without penalty for as long as they're still 1st level.)

Make sure you download and read the free Roleplaying Guild Guide, which has full details on all the currently available factions (and all the other rules that you'll need to know about organized play).
