The Aeternum Trade Alliance - ATA
Who says that battles, sieges, ambushes and skirmishes are the only ways of fighting a war? Who says that swords, maces, arrows, wands and shields are fun toys only if used against your enemy?
The most dangerous and effective wars are economic wars, the wars prepared by hammering in smithies, concocting potions in an alchemy lab, roaming the wilderness in search of resources, the wars fought raiding the markets and subduing prices.
The most powerful empires are those resting on arms and business alike.
Nation: Empire of Xeilias
Settlement: Callambea
Alignments: basically Lawful Neutral, with every compatible alignment allowed
Pax Gaming Membership Status: Required (see here)
Player Roles Accepted: Gatherers, Refiners, Crafters, Traders – any race, any class
Who Should Join: anyone willing to join our jolly army of crafters and stalwart economic military

I've added your Company to the Guild Recruitment & Helpful Links list and placed it alongside Xelias. If you have a brief description you'd like to appear there to let people know about your guild while they're browsing that list, please PM me.

So, is this a 2nd CC for members of PAX Settlements to use as a middleman for trade?
Seems like a nice workaround for the alignment problems involved with direct negotiations, although I fear you're cutting recruitment and trade with neighbors off at the knees by only accepting PAX members, unless this is mainly intended as a home for current non-PFO supporters in your community who would rather stay away from the extremes of good vs evil when they do join in with the rest of us.
In any case good luck and great profits!

Carbon,
Thank you for the questions. First, the gaming community you refer to is "Pax" not "PAX"...we are not a certain Penny Arcade Expo. :)
ATA "is" Callambea's trade CC. I think the confusion arises from an extra layer of "naming" we have incorporated that PFO does not mechanically include in its current social structures.
Aeternum is the name of the original "guild" in our RP back-story of its founding members - a name it has retained through the current starting date of PFO and will do so into the future. Callambea is the name of the settlement Aeternum has founded on the PFO game map. The majority of the CCs that will be housed in Callambea will be seen as part of that overarching Aeternum guild/family, though some entities, such as Free Agents, would not be. Within Aeternum, we have CCs such as the Aeternum Trade Alliance and The Hounds of the Imperium. I believe many other "guilds" likewise have names different from that of their settlements or their individual CCs. Such is the case with Aeternum.
As for alignment problems, Aeternum is Lawful Neutral - Lawful so as to represent their steadfast devotion to honoring any contract they write, and Neutral so as to be open to trade with any alignment. An openness to equally trade with all customers, regardless of alignment (especially since alignment is something we have been told will not be easily discernible), and a promise to honor one's contracts, seems like boons to trade, not problems.
I hope that sufficiently answers your questions. If not, please feel free to pose more. We of the Empire always welcome a chance to clarify our structure, our stance on issues, etc.

Thank you for the enlightenment Hobs, and I apologize for the PAX/Pax deal-ieo, I'm sure you've had quite a bear keeping that strait across the all the nets.
The bit that had me most confused was the inference of what Alliance and Nation means in traditional contexts, in that involves more than 1 Settlement, which this is not meant to follow. Understanding this is more of a Trade "division" of Aeternum helps clear things up much more.

I can see your point, but you see, Aeternum Trade Alliance is a "historical name" in a sense, because ATA was founded more than one year ago, when there was still a bit of confusion about prospective political bodies in PfO.

Will our storm troopers be required to wear white?
Certainly not. We're a very fashion forward Empire. Your stormtrooper outfit comes in...
...striped
...polka dotted
...and yes, even plaid
We have retro '60's
...vintage 50's
...and classic American
We also cater to a variety of genre, with...
...the current comic craze
...zombie lovers (that one's for you Deacon)
...and of course, the King
But to make it clear...no matter our uniform, the Empire is a moral, wholesome , kid-friendly, family first nation...
...after all, we have outfits for him
...for her (but really for him *nudge nudge*)
...heck, even the family dog
...and...um...their chicken?
...and eggs...
So as you can see, we offer far more than the stereotypic white. We are a diverse and very inclusive Empire.
Disclaimer: This has been a public service announcement of the Empire of Xeilias. All similarities of those photographed, either living or dead, is purely coincidental (except for Morbis, disguised as a chicken and dressed as a stormtrooper).

To all the River Kingdoms merchants:
Callambea is always looking for trade partners. We will do what is necessary to conduct trade and foster good business relationships with people that are interested in doing business with us.
For Callambea, trade logistics over a large distance are defined in the form of a Free Trade Agreement between two organizations. The FTA outlines the protocol for goods, scheduling, caravan accommodations, and other technical aspects of trade logistics.
Included in the FTA is a "status of forces section" while in each others' territory. Basically, once business is conducted are you/we expected to leave right away or can you/we hang around and how can you/we expect to be treated? That sort of thing.
An FTA will include "breaking contact," which is at what point are we/you on our own.
An FTA does not cover if we are both in the same neutral territory vying for unclaimed resources. At the same time, "breaking contact" could include escort out of the Area of Influence of any NC member.

A clarification about Free trade Agreements:
Each and every Free Trade Agreement is unique and distinct, even if the technical aspects of managing an economy remain static for the most part. While using these static elements as pillars on which to expand, the foundation of the Free Trade Agreement is a contract, which is a mutual promise to exchange ideas of value.
Until we know more about the in-game contract system, we plan on offering FTAs both to CCs and individual merchants, both for continuous and occasional trade relationships.

Totally my fault, but that should read "items" of value. So yes, if you are interested in trade with Callambea, Glau is the lady to talk to and we'll even bring the coffee and donuts to the table ;)
