Watch something other than Wing. The majority of Gundams are piloted by trained soldiers.
My point, however, is that the side with the Gundams are the heroes, the side with tons of mass produced cannon fodder suits are the bad guys, and the ones who use colonies as weapons.
I've watched Wing, and Fighters, and parts of the original series and Turn A, but I only liked Wing and Fighters.
Anyways, space colonies building giant battle robots isn't likely to lead to good things no matter what. :P

{boggles} I'm frankly amazed this Gundam discussion hasn't sucked Freehold in past the event horizon.
And for all the heliocentrists, geocentrists, and turtles-all-the-way-downists, I apologize for the confusion. My ego is actually the universal center. While it continues to act as a ultramassive singularity and accumulate matter (and mass) at increasingly faster velocities, it can be understandably difficult for finite mortals to accurately observe and model what happens on the universal timescale.

That's impressive salad.
Especially since everything is just a figment of my imagination.
Ha ha! You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders--The most famous of which is "never get involved in a mango war in 'Dingo's yard"--but only slightly less well-known is this: "Never go in against a Slaad when existence is on the line"!
{disbelieves illusion} Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha... Wait! Noooo! Undo, CTRL+Z, undo, un- {winks out of existence}

My hatred for non-UC Gundam(save G, which remains a cute show to me) is considerable. I have met Yoshiuki Tomino twice, and I will never forget what he said when asked how he felt about other people using his source material.

Try the other parts of The One Year War: 08th MS Team, and War in the Pocket. Stardust Memories is worth watching too.
My love for these series cannot be measured. Stardust Memories was the first Gundam property I ever saw, and the first one I fully owned on VHS. 08MS Team is an old favorite- the opening is a classic, as is the light-to-dark storyline, and I have a special place in my heart for War in the Pocket, despite it being the "Zeon" story.

I was reading this while watching Pacific Rim with a friend who had never seen it before.
You can always find me in the threaddrift.
I finally saw that the other day. Surprisingly good.

Turn A is technically part of the UC.
