Time travel is most excellent!

Not the first time I've heard NobodysHome described as a "Insomniac Timelord".

I believe Shiroh is said to have muttered that under his breath several times when combat was not going his way. ;)

Would sure like to see what became of the rest of the campaign . . . I guess the extended silence is a strong sign that it never recovered . . . .

And hey, where's my real-life Nap Stack!? . . .

Hmmm... on this...

GM Note: As I said, I regret the way I played Nurah, but if you look at her background, her deeds, and her attitude, there's really nothing much worth redeeming in there. As a GM you have to add some depth to her if you want the PCs to make an error, and with the number of NPCs I was running I just failed to add that depth. I'll admit it was my mistake, but I'm not particularly unhappy about it. I was glad to be rid of yet another NPC cluttering up my side of the screen, and I just don't see my group as being enamored of saving her. Arushelae is far more my cup of tea, but that's a dozen or more sessions away.

In my game we never discovered her deception...our success just made whatever she did irrelevant... we fixed everything she did and in the end when we beat Jorane and turned him from his brother, Staunton ~ who we almost immediately fought and Killed... Nurah fled with Kiranda... who put her in a bag of holding to teleport around with her.

The next time we met Nurah.. was when we took on the Woundwyrm.. Kiranda had tried before to ambush the party following and spying from a distance consorting with the random encounters to try to come up with the best plan of attack upon us. But we foiled the one attempt she personally was at when we randomly encountered a Glabrezu and a Bodak in the same day.. she rallied them both to attack up on mission.. and only Kiranda managed to escape. But she came to realize we were going to attack the Woundwyrm... so she consorted with the Woundwyrm and dragged Nurah along to inspire courage in their efforts and to occasionally cast invisibility upon the Woundwyrm. It was a nasty epic aerial battle ...but again we prevailed. So angry was Kiranda to again be foiled that she abandoned Nurah near at a cliff edge next to the lake of Lava... told her she was useless and that she might as well throw herself to her doom for all the use she was!

The GM had us see her at the cliff's edge singing a sad song before she threw herself over the edge to fall to her brief burning death.

The GM actually sung this for us...

"A heartbeat without harmony
Is moonlight without dark
The heart seeketh equilibrium
With balance will your worry part."

"So still this broken melody
And therewith shoulder thee
One LAST STEP only leaving
An empty hearth down by the sea
An empty hearth down by the sea..."

Our GM actually has a really good voice...

So touched was I by the performance.. My paladin spent two mythic points to fly to and catch Nurah before she hit lava and died.

She was a halfling slave to a Cheliax Lord who came to fight out of pride in the Crusades.. he abused her and demeaned her in every-way.. when the demons killed him.. she sided with them to cause destruction to payback the suffering she and all her kind were subjected too in Cheliax.

She was just as much a victim as many others subjected to cruelty... and we are working to redeem her as we play...

Not wishing to derail as well, but our GM had some interesting mechanics concerning pacts with Lady N.

Essentially, it was an interesting interparty split as several characters were quite open to an alliance with her against common enemies, while others were incredibly suspicious.
The GMs idea was that Nocticula would betray the party if half the party trusted her. One character made her a genuinely interesting offer (was a bit of a prankster and offered her 3 good laughs from the bottom of her heart, and he got up to some pretty impressive antics indeed) so the GM adjusted it to more then half.
3 out of 6 remained stalwart in not trusting her at all, while the other 3 became increasingly convinced that she was arguably nicer (she was very nice indeed, after killstealing Baphomet a second time, she offered them permanent ownership off various parts of the new midnight isle, in recognicition for their kill participation etc.) then Iomedae (act 5 interrogation escalated, well, the character with the profane ascension outright announced himself to Iomedae as Nocticulas ambassador, it got more heated from there) to them.

Ironically, the character who did the profane ascension trusted her initially the least, which changed in act 5 due to how crazy the interrogation by Iomedae scene got.
