Hello cousins, and welcome to the Annual Absalom Family Day!
Today, on the Sixth day of spring, is not only the nameday of our benevolent uncle Guaril, but also the only Varisian Family convention outside of Magnimar!
I would hereby like to thank Uncle Guaril for his generous gifts, the banquet he arranged for us and the fact that we, after all, are family.
So eat heartly and drink merrily, for wealth is the truest celebration of life! For those of you who have business to discuss, I'll be in the red tent to your left for those matters best privately discussed.
As Carla steps down from the stage, a troupe of musicians starts playing a joyful serenade to Varisia's climate. She enter the aforementioned tent, giving the audience a meaningful glance.

A lean silken armored elf strides through the tent. He smiles as he enters, searching for hidden intruders. Then follows with a pair of spells (see invisibility) and imbues his sword with (magic missile). He stretches and bows then moves towards a dark corner to vanish. My shadow and I will stay here, let me know if anyone needs mortality.

Welcome Telessar, Shamus. Any news on the recent events surrounding our competitors?
I myself have heard a rumor that the Red Mantis is searching for Grandmaster Torch. If this is true, then it is grand news indeed, and will provide us a great opportunity to expand into Osiriani territory.
Furthermore, I believe that the presence of the low templars near the world wound could open up some profitable options. What do you think?

I spent a few days in Nerosyn. The crusaders seemed a little serious at first. Then a demonic horde arrived and the party really got started. Blood was thick on the streets, I understand the wound now, its such a convenient place to dispatch evil. You don't have to go searching and walking and climbing mountains...just wait a few minutes and bam evil comes calling. Too bad I already set up my house in Absolom...otherwise I'd relocate to Nerosyn.

If you equal "Fun" to "Getting threatened and blackmailed", then sure, I would like him too. But I prefer having business partners over power-hungry thugs. I say we ditch that arrogant savage first opportunity and show his whole organisation how a proper business is run: From the shadows. Noone will ever know that he was 'replaced' at all. This will greatly increase our standing in Osirion and directly benefit the Family. Frankly, this has little to do with our personal feelings towards this individual.
And Telessar, I wasn't referring to slaughtering demons, even though that can be fun at times. I was talking about the fact that Nerosyan, before this whole demonic debacle, was a haven for river pirates. We ought to rebuild a small outpost on these foundations using those uneducated fools calling themselves "low templars" as a cover. Who knows, silver holy symbols could be in short supply...
And then there's this thing happening in Jormungand... Jurmongand.. Jormongandr... you know the place. Ancient treasures, anyone?

I'd rather be on the giving than the receiving end of such trivial tactics... That's my definition of "Fun". But that would require myself being in such a position... which is currently taken.
I must say, your ideas make my heart go fuzzy and warm, Telessar. Such boldness, such austerity! This is exactly the mentality that we need, especially in the light of the recent attempt on our dearest uncle's life. I shall despatch a herald to Nerosyan at once, making sure everyone knows about your grand deeds. This could very well be a stepping ladder towards succes in the region.
Maybe we could even prove a valued substitute for the recently disbanded lodge? All in the spirit of fighting evil of course.

Carla's half-burned face, missing eye and intimidating glare reveal she too, has been on the edge of death. But something tells you she takes this far more seriously than a mere resurrection.
Big deal? BIG DEAL?? She almost shouts, mumbling some dark curses and then spitting on the ground. Our Venture Captain nearly got killed, and we don't know wether we could bring him back after the unknown assasins got away with it, as we probably would'nt have been able to find a body at all. Which means we, us, here, would not be here. Which also would've ment other, less capable folks taking our place. Which, in turn, would mean our very lives would be at stake, not to mention the ones close to us. She clears her throat. Have you forgotten all the riches uncle Guaril has laden you with? All the talents you would not have developed without him? A life in the mud, untold, hopeless, like those ignorant runts at the shadow lodge lead now? No! I Believe we must stand up for our leader. Because his very existence embodies our right to go digging for treasures and what-not.
She pauses, letting silence fall once more in the tent.
She sighs. I'm sorry, Mr. Madison. It's just that... sometimes, I feel like all the thugs I get saddled with care only for the coin to buy their next wand, instead of looking at the bigger scale of things. She grabs a mug of wine and a slice of cheese, chewing a mouthful before continuïng. I mean, Whaf if we woulf be in unclef position om day? Would'nt you feel dewighted that your coufinf woulf actually help the Family for once instead of just wooking at eachofher's wallets?

Guaril the old weasel is a faction leader not a venture captain. Similar in nature to Zarta Dralneen, but not similar in operation. Szarni's function in our grand society is to move things undetected and learn...sometimes kill. Or am I mistaken with these human customs? I often take things the wrong way.
Not that my life in Kyonin was any clearer...after all I was invited to study the world and by implication never return. Elves don't take duels to their inevitable conclusion, except for me..I went back once for the society...blighted tree huggers sent me into the Tanglebriar! I'm not wanting to return again.
So yes Uncle's life has value to me. I believe one of my associates is getting closer to the persons responsible. Pity my services are needed elsewhere....I would enjoy fulfilling a contract for Scarni. (I miss faction missions)
Shadow lodge, hardly the were always visible. Daylight lodge maybe. Fitting fate they received...and good riddance. Following that boiled rat Torch around.
Hmmm rambling...good wine Mr. Madison my compliments to your victim, he had good taste.
