For an alternate option, you could stat Cayden as a 1st-level human commoner... who is subject to true resurrection as an immediate action whenever he dies, and whose new body appears at a random nearby location.
Cayden: Wooo! You've killed me 34,302 times! Aren't you the big man! Hic!
Wizard: Shut up!
Cayden: Make me!

I'm sure Lightning Dude is just waiting for your suggestions? After all it worked out pretty decent. The successor god was never born, and he got a strong ally in Athena.
