is the pre-gen Alchemist still legal to play?

just what the subject line says...

is the pre-gen Alchemist (which seems not to be in the current Pre-Gen document) still legal to play? As a Pre-Gen I mean... I have a beginner who asked about the Alchemist, and figured I'd hand him the Iconic... and didn't find it in the file. I still have the write-up from before - and I guess it would still be fine (it is a legal 1st level PC after all) but... I don't what to had it out if it's not legal any more.

Nope.

If it's not in the file it's not legal to play. The only ones that should be legal right now are the core and UC classes.

However, they could just copy the info onto a character sheet and play it as a level 1 PC (verifying for accuracy of course).

wow... ok then.

I guess I'll just put one together for him to run once or twice - he can always use the re-write rules to switch out to something else if he doesn't like it.

Although any level 1 pregens are probably OK considering the retrain rules.

PFS uses the term pregen to mean one of the official PFS pregens. Someone could generate a bunch of legal level 1 PFS characters for new players to use, but they should not be called pregens as it could lead to confusion with the wording of the rules in the PFS Guide.

Agreed.

You mean the Alchemist from MotFF?

As long as his gear isn't valued over 150gp, I don't see why you couldn't use him.

It's no different than statting up any other 1st level character.

Aren't those 15pt buy?

Yes they are

So you could let new players use them. But it would be cruel.

Here's where you can get those Advanced Player's Guide level one characters from Master of the Fallen Fortress (also includes Chronicle Sheets).

We should not make it more complicated for Level 1 as it is necessary

Question 1: Is it an up-to-date PreGen - just use as is

Question 2: If it isn't on the up-to-date list - check legality (20 point buy, money spend)
and if build according to PFS rules - just use it,
if having slight differences to PFS rules - just make minor changes until legal and use it

The minor changes to look out for are likely - 15 point buy if originating from a free RPG day - just increase one or 2 stats
150 GP limit - an issue mainly with Valeros due to expensive armor
traits - older versions of the pregens didn't have traits assigned

On the right hand side, there's a link to download all the legal PFS pregens. Alchemist is, sadly, not among them.

For a first level character, however, you can use anything you want, including one based on the older alchemist pregen. The player can rebuild it to anything they want before 2nd level.
