I have a similar question regarding assigning GM credit (for face to face play) to a character involved in play by post.
Assuming that that is allowed, what order are the chronicles assigned in?
Since the PbP game is The Confirmation, I would prefer to have that be the first Chronicle assigned. However, soon after that game is begun, I will be GMing enough tables (including a module) that I would be in danger of pushing the character out of legality, if they are assigned in order of completion.

I am pretty sure that you cannot assign ANYTHING to a character that is involved in a game, PbP or otherwise. This could be a character that is tied up in a module that you are playing IRL, or in a PbP game.
If the character is playing, you cannot assign any other chronicles to that character (GM/Pregen/other).
Please correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure I am not.
Running Multi-Session Adventures
Since sanctioned modules and Adventure Paths are multisession events, Pathfinder Society characters may not be used in other Pathfinder Society events until they receive a Chronicle sheet for the sanctioned content.
Note, that while this is specifically about modules, etc... it should pertain to PbP as well, as it is effectively a multi-session adventure

As to the OP's question. No. While a PC is locked-in to one adventure, they can not add other Chronicles to their active stack. But if you are just assigning a higher level pre-gen credit Chronicle to the PC and it won't be added to their active chronicle stack until they are a higher level (ie. after the current adventure's chronicle is already added to their stack), then go ahead. As long as the pre-gen chronicle is added to the PC's active stack, after the chronicle from the current game, but also when the PC reaches the level of the pre-gen played, you will be fine.

So if the character in question is 5th level and will become 6th after the play by post that they are currently in, I should be fine playing a level 7 pregen and assigning it to the character, since the chronicle wouldn't become active until the character reached 7th?

Exactly.
