Beldan gently pulls the door almost closed again, and then whispers to his companions what is within. “Want to check it out? … Hey, where’s Stigwold? I thought someone woke him up?”
There's a sound of screaming or perhaps rather more like tired moaning, from up above in the house again. It seems to be coming from the east of the house. The voice sounds feeble, meek and malaised.
"Hear me O'thrall of Orcus your time draws near end wizard!There will be justice for your crimes against the peoples of this land!You have earned the wrath of Harvak of the Dreadwood!"bellows Harvak.
Beldan puts his head in his hands and sighs, then quickly pushes the door back open with the butt of his quarterstaff, to see what – if anything – has been revealed in the room (chair turned around or anything?)
Elgan puts his head in his hands, unknowingly echoing Beldan's actions.
He pats the large warrior of the woods on the shoulder. Or as close to his shoulder as he can reach.
"At's good Harvak. Dat'll teach 'em. Your group o' rangers, dey do still teach sneakin' an' stuff, right?"
Shaking his head, but smiling back at the large green Dreadwood Guardian, Elgan steps through the doorway and flows into the shape of the lithe black cat. He pauses to sniff the air, sneezes, then pads off quietly in the direction he saw Beldan go.
'I had better go and make sure our erstwhile rogue doesn't go and bite off more than he can chew. After all, that's MY schtick!' He thinks to himself.

This and Harv's bellowing rouses Stig.
"En? Unnnnnh.... Yer gob smells like arse, Tenser."
As Beldan pushes the door open, Altai covers him with his new wand. "I love this thing", he whispers to Beldan. "I almost hope I get to use it now. Am I going crazy?"
Stig takes up the rear. So to speak.
There is a tense pause. Minutes seem like days.
Somewhere, far outside the house, a wolf howls.
Riese readies his wand also and gives Altai a smile at his comment.
As Beldan pushes the door open...
In a loud voice, from the back: "Coorie th' f#*$ up ye an' open th' duir, Beldan.
"Ah, yes, there was that..." No chance to surprise anyone now, I guess. Altai pokes his head into the room, seeing if anything or anyone stirs at Stig's drunken outburst.
There's a scratching and skittering from within the chimney. A lot of it.
A flood of rats emerge from the fireplace. Pouring over everything in a churning wave of rodentia.
A flood of dead rats.
Stig moves in and starts whacking vermin.
What's IC? And you're using an axe, right?
They tied init with Stiggy.
Stiggy and Harvak enter the room they are both immediately swarmed by the dead zombie rats, climbing up their legs, searching for purchase.
Neither one is harmed yet.

As the undead rodentia flow from the fireplace, Elgan instinctively backs up a step, hissing.
At least this time he was doing it as a cat.
His reaction gives Stiggy and Harvak time to bellow and charge the swarm together. Elgan is behind them in a blink, trying to get at the offensive creatures without being covered by them.
"Bloody hell. Are those... undead rats?" After leaning forward with curiosity, Altai recoils in disgust and horror. "Blast the vile things!"
Stig flails drunkenly at the undead rats.
almost destroyed. The room is filthed with chopped and frozen dead rats.
Altai's just inside the room - he stepped aside to let others get into the room.
Cool bidness.
Gittik chops at the rat swarm.
The halfling slaughters through the corpsrats, and the chittering mob is almost subdued.
Harvak finishes the job on the mob of rats. (dmpc'd)

The ratroom is a-f 1-3. There's a fireplace at c1, the chair is at c2, the door is at c3.
Windows to outside are at a1 and e1 on the north wall.
the hall stretches from a4(door on west side of that square) to f4, where it joins to the grand entrance room.
there's another door at c5. on the south wall of the hallway.
Harvak, Stiggy, Gittik, Altai, and Elgan--place yourselves in any square of the ratroom.
Riese, Beldan, and Becton...begin at any square A4 to D4, and decide if you're going in that room, moving elsewhere 1 round's worth of actions, or staying put.

Riese moves to F4 to survey the grand room, wand at the ready.
"Here Kitty-kitty, lets check down here." calling to Elgan.
Hey, Harvak; Gittik's at d3. You mean b3?
"Hey, Big Ugly, you find own place to stand."

The main entry room runs g-L 1-6.
There is a hallway north at j1, to the former kitchen and maggotorium.
There is a hallway east at L1.
The stairway runs up the east wall from L5 to L1 where it meets a gallery that runs on the next floor up from ground from g1 to L1, and along the west wall from g1 to g6. The gallery and stairway are bordered by a wooden bannister. The gallery is 5 foot wide, like all the halls in this house.
Under the stairway is a wooden door 3.5 feet tall, where presumably Harry Potter doesn't live.
At L6 stands a rusting suit of platemail holding a halberd.
At I6 (heh heh ravenloft module!) is the doorway out.
"Huh. Well, this thing never runs out of ammo, right?" After looking sceptically at the suit of mail for a while, Altai points his wand at it and squeezes off a shot.
Oh, we're on initiative. You can't do that yet.
This is the ENDGAME, and I'm waiting for everybody to say exactly where they're going to be standing when the next round starts...
