I will have an Associates at the end of summer and will have only about 6 months of paid developing work under my belt at that time. I feel really good about all the other requirement.
I plan on turning in a resume, but what are the chances that my resume would be given serious consideration?
Also, for those who are lacking some of the important needed skills, what are the benefits of turning in a resume?

I'm completely unqualified other than a Bachelors Degree in an unrelated field, but in on this thread.
Really though. What are the odds this person will be some randa-guy from the messageboards and not be an RPG insider that will come across this job from industry-networking and come from another company or internally?

I would imagine that this job will more than likely go to an established name in the industry. However, I would also imagine that any resume sent in that interests Paizo enough could have a chance of getting a decent shot at freelance work, or potentially even have an opening created if they want that person badly enough, so I'd encourage people to apply.

We are open to candidates with any degree to be honest. There are some that I would think of as more valuable to the game design profession than others, but we are far more interested in your work in the field and experience.
To be honest, the range of degrees you would find here at Paizo would be staggering. I have an architecture degree, for example. Sean has a chemistry degree. Stephen has a degree in metal.. iirc.

I understand that having a degree, in say, Basket Weaving isn't necessarily disqualifying since factors like RPG industry experience weigh far more heavily. I was just pointing out how completely unqualified I am (no industry experience and an unrelated field of study) but was still dropping in on this thread.
I still find it..unorthodox though to spread the word through forums as I'm sure Sean didn't do this without Lisa saying it was ok. Maybe other companies like WotC or Steve Jackson games do this as well. I don't know. To me its kind of like (on a smaller scale) Microsoft going on their forums and saying "Who wants to apply to design the new xbox?". I imagine this position will be filled internally or come over from a company like WotC (not sure your relationship) or a company of that sort. Maybe this is a way of indirectly spreading that word out to other places so those guys hear about it instead of taking them directly. Then again, who the f*** knows? Maybe you guys are really cool out of the box thinkers and pick up some guy who was successful with 3pp products and kickstarters.

Many Paizo employees first started as fans, including Adam, Liz, John, Mike, Rob, and me. We interacted first with Paizo on these messageboards, and it's through them that we got noticed by Paizo (in addition to our other qualifications). So It's not unheard of for Paizo to hire from the community. We published the job listing here on our own site, so whether it's us pointing people to it (here or elsewhere, like on Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn), or a fan noticing it and making a thread, it's really the same thing. Ultimately, we want as many people as possible to know about the open position so that we get the best possible applicant pool.

I was trying to figure out how to fax my application
then I spilled my midday gin on my application
then I threw the fax machine out the window
then I remembered that I could just use the internet to send the application but I got distracted by posting about rogues or alignment or whatever
...I am not getting the position, am I

Still waiting for Paizo to post a job opening for a Forum Counter-troll.
That would be an unpaid, volunteer internship for no credit whatsoever. The details of it are found here: The details.

Hmmmmm. Perhaps my time has come! ;-)

So what exactly does one do, primarily, as a member of the design team this late in the game's life cycle? Churn out new options for spells/feats/items/monsters etc.? Generally check the math over on modules? Work up new systems to bolt on as optional or one-off rules? Work on errata to solve the weird interaction issues that crop up from book to book?
I'm assuming "all of the above" in some ratio or other obviously, but there's no sense sending in a resume for an architect when you're mainly looking for a welder or vice versa.

No! How would Wayfinder stay fan-made zine with you being part of Paizo?!
Unless...
It's time to pass the mantle of glorious editioral leadership to Paris?

If the post isn't filled would that mean no more new rules....you know, on the off-chance we have plenty already!!
Maybe I could use my geology qualification to design dungeons formed over millions of years?
You could fulfill YellowDingo's vision of dungeons that account for subsidence.

Just an FYI to those who have submitted a resume. I will not be contacting anyone about this position for at least two weeks (so not need to fret if you do not hear anything in the next few days). I'll also be sure to post up a notice when the window to get in your resume is coming to a close.

Considering throwing my hat into the ring, so it's only fair to warn any other potential candidates that I am proficient in Windows 95 and Windows 98.
I am also familiar with windows as well as doors.
As to how useful the latter ability is -- I suspect that very few people on these message boards got the "doors" pun.

I noticed the "willing to buy the boss Scotch" requirement was left off of the job details.
About the only things holding me back are the relevant job experience (precisely zero in the RP industry) and the commute. The flight over from England would be a bit much, I think.
Best of luck to those applying. I hope you enjoy the interview if you get invited in for one.
