Max?? He was pretty CE in my opinion. he was in it for the violence and the chance to shoot Someone... Anyone!!.
Yeah to me me V (v for vendetta) "order is bad" is a good example as is Riddick (pitch black, chronicles of riddick) "i just want to be free".
V is doing it out of disire to do what he sees as "best for all" but doesn't worry about collateral damage or a few evil acts in the process. Riddick just wants to live his life his way. Interfere and he will beat and or kill you but he doesn't go out of his way to hurt others that leave him alone.
Honestly I think Riddick is probably CE. Maybe he's more neutral in the later movies, as I've only seen Pitch Black, but he seems too ready to kill others for CN in my opinion.

He is killing others for his survival and freedom. He leaves bodies, but he isn't doing it for sport or when there are other options. CN is fine. It's all about motivation, and killing someone isn't an evil act by game terms.
