ok, so i've pretty much got my character mapped out to level 20 for the campaign im currently in, but one thing i cant decide on is really bugging me:
is it worth fighting defensively to use crane style feats (GM already said we're running original crane style because the re-write makes no sense) or are those feat slots put to better use with things like spell focus/specialization/mastery?
its a level6 Magus that will be dipping 2 levels into Master of Many Styles at 7th and 11th.
i cant decide if i should instead take only 1 level in monk and the other in fighter so that i get the same number of feats, but higher bab and lower saves, or just stick with monk2.
the reason i need master of many styles is for the bonus combat style feats. i want to take crane style (all three feats) and snake style/snake fang. total of 5 feats, so i need both bonus feats in my build to pull it off. However, if i get rid of taking crane style altogether i can take both snake style and snake fang in one level and actually removes 4 feats because i'd no longer need Dodge in the build. this would allow me to take the spell focus set up as most magi do.
which one is better? more fun? more unique?
a magus who uses frostbite and then makes a crap ton of AoO's? or a magus who hits like a mac truck with something else while still getting a few AoO's?

Two levels of monk for evasion. Crane wing is definitely worth getting if using the old version. As for spells, I would focus on Bladed Dash, and only use a touch spell if the enemies are kind enough to stand there and let you full attack. On my magus, every one of my second level slots is Bladed Dash, and my fourth Level slots are Greater Bladed Dash. Being able to move 30 feet and full attack is huge.

ahh, perhaps i should have mentioned: were playing mythic and i took Fleeting Charge as a Champion at first tier, so i can already move 30 ft and attack, then make a full attack to boot.
the concept for the build revolves around making AoO's whenever possible. i just dont know if more is necessarily better if i have to sacrifice spell penetration/damage for them.

Ahh not familiar with mythic stuff. Honestly I've found that the higher you get, the less you are going to get out if your spells as a magus, especially if they are not your primary focus. With fewer spells per day and only 6 levels of spell access I'd say focus on buffing yourself and get those AOO's in. Spell Blending for Heroism is so worth it if you don't have a party member reliably casting it on you.

im interested in how you see less usefulness from your spells at higher levels. my last campaign i played a magus up to level 32 (its a long story) and was still finding shocking grasp very useful. that particular character wasnt even a full magus either. i do see utility in focusing on buffs and that would fit my idea for this character very well. so then, i take it you think keeping crane style is the better way to go?
