Elven Chain vs Magic Leather Armor

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

Is it intentional that elven chain and magic leather armor are identical? Especially considering that elven chain is more rare and more difficult to acquire I would expect it to be better than(or at least in some way different from) magic leather armor.

They're different. See the first word of each armor's power.

Oh wow... huge difference. Can't believe I never noticed that.

So could an elf rogue proficient in only light armor, be able to equip heavy "elf " armor? He asked with fingers crossed.

There is no equip. But Merisiel can use the heavy armors still, even without proficiency. Armor proficiency generally has two advantages from what we've seen so far.

1. You can bury instead of banish to reduce all damage to 0.
2. You can recharge the armor when you reset your hand.

But anyone can play an armor, whether they have proficiency or not and whether they have card slot for armor in their deck or not. Anyone can play any card. They might not get a lot from playing it, and they might have a slight penalty if they lack a skill or proficiency, but anyone can play any card.

All this time I thought, if you didn't have a proficiency in "heavy armor" then you couldn't use it. But what you said makes sense, "They might not get a lot from playing it" especially if the end up loosing it after use. Thanks for the clarification, I'll stick to my light armor.

Yeah, you can use any card you acquire. Even if you can't keep it between scenarios. Amiri can play spells, though it will be a one-shot deal, as they will be banished when played. Sajan can use armor, even though he can never have armor in his deck or become proficient. Etc. with weapons and so on. Most times in these cases, you either take penalties, banish the card after use, or fail to get the full benefit. But they CAN be used.
