As a bisexual guy, I was gonna comment on this discussion but, honestly, I'm kinda scared to. So I'll settle for congratulating Ellen Page. It's always good to see someone accept who they are, and create a positive role model for people who are having to still hide out of fear of there family, friends and societies reaction.
Although it does make Beyond: Two Souls and the guy who refuses to take no as an answer even more awkward.
I know a few people have asked why people should care. There are several, ranging from the obvious - that teens and young adults, and even full adults, who are gay can have role models and examples - to the less obvious, such as (especially American TV) is hideously under represented for non-white, non-straight and even non-male characters. Having a real person who is open about there sexuality counts for a lot when most of the characters you'll see don't represent most minorities.
Representation is important, or we end up with ridiculous situations like the one from the Hunger Games movies, where if the main character, Katniss, was actually real she'd never be allowed to play Katniss in the movie, as the casting call was only for white woman despite Katniss not actually being white. Which, given the themes, is extra ironic.
So nice to see this...and here's to hoping for a time when it's not a bi deal because non straight folks are generally accepted.
