Hi guys. Thanks in advance for your help.
Question 1:
Let's say I'm playing Amiri and I come across the barrier, Shopkeeper's Daughter. The check to defeat is Wisdom 8. Do I get to roll my d6 and get my Survival: Wisdom +3 bonus? Or would I just roll the d6?
Also... if a card has a Wisdom Divine check, can I choose Wisdom and add the Survival bonus, or does Survival have to be an option for me to get the bonus? As I'm typing this, I think I already know the answer haha.
Question 2:
The Old Light location has At this Location Add 1d6 to checks using the fire trait. What does this mean exactly? When you attempt a check, do you add an additional d6 with the fire trait? Or do you add a d6 if the card you are trying to acquire or defeat has the fire trait? Or do you add a d6 if you are using a card in the check that has the fire trait? Whew.
Thanks again!

Hi @Aidmeplatypus, welcome to the forums!
Answer 1:
You only use the Survival bonus when you are facing a "Survival check". Think of it as a special type of wisdom that helps you survive (e.g. you know which mushrooms to eat and which ones will kill you, how to use the brush for cover and not to sleep in dry riverbeds).
When you have to do something Survival-related you can apply this extra skill and get the bonus. However, in other "Wisdom" situations, this extra skill doesn't help you.
For example, when the Shopkeeper's daughter tries to seduce you, your knowledge of mushrooms does not help you realise it's a bad idea.
I think your intuition was telling you the right thing ;)
Answer 2:
I think it means (although I have not seen this from an 'official source') the following: "If your check has the fire trait, add 1d6 to your dice pool". Checks can gain traits in various ways:
- the ONE card you use in the "Determine which skill/die you're using" step adds all of its traits to the check (e.g. a sword might add traits like Melee and Slashing; if you use and discard the Flaming Mace it adds the fire trait)
- if you use a power in this step instead of a card then it may say that it adds certain traits to the check (e.g. Seoni's blast power will add the fire trait to the check)
- some cards/powers that are used in the "affect the check" phase also say that they add traits (but they do not, by default, add all of their card traits to the check, only the ones listed in the power). E.g. The promo card ally Poog can add the fire trait to a check
I hope that helps!

Focus on how Seoni's power works. She discards a card to play a spell with the fire trait which basically means when she's at that location every single card in her hand is also a Scorching Ray because she gains a 2nd D6 from The Old Light location.
Basically, there are 4 ways through the base game and Burnt Offerings (I figure I'll get my Skinsaw shipment around Thanksgiving thanks UPS Mail!). 1)You play a Spell with the Fire trait aka Scorching Ray is it. 2)Seoni's power 3)Fiery Weapon played usually on some other character's attack since it specifically states it adds the Fire trait to the check. 4)Flaming Mace when it is discarded.
As you can tell, Seoni hangs out there A LOT.
P.S. Oh of course if you got the Poog Promo card that's the 5th way to add fire.
