Flame blade Whirlwind Attack with Reach Spell (Metamagic)

Rules Questions

Can you use whirlwind with flame blade? If yes, if you add Reach Spell metamagic would you whirlwind out to 25ft/5ft per 2 levels. lol.

Reach Spell (Metamagic)

Your spells go farther than normal.
Benefit: You can alter a spell with a range of touch, close, or medium to increase its range to a higher range category, using the following order: touch, close, medium, and long.
Level Increase: Special. A reach spell uses up a spell slot one level higher than the spell’s actual level for each increase in range category. For example, a spell with a range of touch increased to long range uses up a spell slot three levels higher.
Spells modified by this feat that require melee touch attacks instead require ranged touch attacks.
Spells that do not have a range of touch, close, or medium do not benefit from this feat.

Enuff said.

By strict hidebound RAW? I don't think so:
Range 0 ft, which is not touch, close, or medium

But as it does pathetic damage and gets nerfed by resist fire : 5 and basically ignored by higher fire resistance, sure... that's a LOT of resources to spend, though. Plus you have to get flame blade AND whirlwind attack AND a metamagic feat.

Edit: Ninja'd

The reach of the Flame Blade is part of the effect, not the range. Reach Spell doesn't change the size of the blade.
