Construct Limb Modification Help!

Advice

Dark Archive

Hello everyone,

I am looking to make a Level 14 character with a construct limb. I have a big question, that I cannot seem to find the answer for.

Can an animated object be made into a construct limb?

How does this work as part of your full attack action? Do you need feats two two weapon fight with it, or does it attack on it's own? If you are going to attack with it as part of your full attack action, do you use its attack bonus, or yours? How do I calculate the damage?

I am a bit new to constructs, and ANY advice would be appreciated!

Thank you!

Animated object: yes... but a normal animated object has a duration, a permanent animated object is subject to dispelling and AMF. An animated object crafted with craft construct feat is probably the best investment.

The way I read the construct limb*: the construct occupies your space, moves with you, acts on your turn, and attacks on it's own (under your control) and grants you a shield bonus.

If the construct has a special attack, such as a breath weapon, you may use that by expending your own action(s) and the construct's stats (attack, damage, DC...).
If a special attack or attack (like a maneuver) from the construct provokes an AoO, then that AoO is directed at you.

In short the attack it makes uses it's own attack bonus and damage from its stat block under Offense.

You don't need extra feats, you're are even considered proficient with it as a heavy shield.

Does that help? You really need your GMs input on this. But the above interpretation is somewhat easy to use, ie. no harder than having the construct in the first place.

* Now at least, I had a different interpretation 30 minutes ago. My previous understanding was that it "transfered" its attacks to you. These are usually natural attacks and you would use them as such. But I like the new one better.

That does help, I feel as if the rules are just a tiny bit vague, but I definitely appreciate the input. So I may be a little dense, but you would say that the construct gets it's own attack round basically? So I would get all of my attacks, and it would get it's own?

I am definitely going to be getting it with Craft Construct, that is the definite best route to go.

Yes, the construct makes it's own normal attacks (melee or ranged), but you have to spend your own actions on special attacks. I would rule that special attacks like pounce and similar that alter how the construct can use its attacks don't transfer to you.

The construct limb is somewhat similar to a mount, it's a separate creature in your space that moves with you - except in sovjet russia: mount rides you :D
